Role Summary
AIA Colorado is sharing an opening for an Urban Designer role with Tryba Architects, a Denver-based multidisciplinary practice known for its work across planning, architecture, preservation, interior design, branding, and environmental graphics. The firm has built a strong reputation over 35+ years for shaping urban environments into distinctive places through a principled, collaborative approach that connects buildings and spaces with function, people, nature, and the wider city context.
This position is suited to a designer with 1-5 years of experience and a salary range of $65,000-$85,000.
Core Work
- Bring a strong visual design sensibility along with solid technical capability.
- Contribute to urban development assignments, including project visioning, design collateral, site planning, programming, urban design guidelines, and coordination with city agencies.
- Work with a working understanding of planning and entitlement processes.
- Partner closely with the firm’s principals throughout all stages of design and drawing production.
- Build effective working relationships with principals and staff through open communication, constructive dialogue, and responsive feedback.
Portfolio Requirement
Applicants must include a portfolio for consideration. Submissions without work samples will not be reviewed. The portfolio should be sent as a single PDF, limited to 10-20 pages and no larger than 5 MB, and included with the application materials.

Qualifications
- A graduate or professional degree from an accredited Architecture or Urban Design program.
- Ability to perform independently and also contribute effectively within a team.
- Comfort handling multiple projects at once in a production-oriented setting, with strong time management and multitasking skills.
- Well-developed design, communication, and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Rhino, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
