About the Role

This position is for an experienced payroll specialist who will act as the Payroll Lead and UK Subject Matter Expert within the global support organization. The role focuses on applying deep payroll knowledge to review, validate, and audit how the Rippling platform processes payroll for the UK, rather than running payroll directly.

You will connect UK payroll compliance requirements with product behavior, helping ensure that the system remains accurate, compliant, and dependable. The role also involves improving support quality, using data and customer feedback to guide product enhancements, and building strong internal knowledge resources for the UK region.

This is a key role for someone who understands both complex payroll regulation and SaaS-based payroll technology, and who wants to help shape how the platform handles country-specific payroll logic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary regional specialist for global payroll and HR solutions within the assigned customer area on the support team.
  • Create and keep up to date country-specific documentation, help content, and FAQs for customers and internal teams.
  • Review support interactions to spot recurring issues, patterns, and opportunities to improve the customer experience.
  • Work with regional Product Managers to share support trends, customer insights, and serious compliance-related issues.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Tax Operations teams to explain compliance needs, test new features, and confirm payroll logic is built correctly.
  • Serve as a senior escalation contact for Customer Support Specialists handling complex region-specific payroll questions.
  • Take ownership of the most difficult customer cases and resolve them using strong country and platform expertise.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of practical UK payroll experience, including full end-to-end payroll processing; experience with a global payroll provider or HR technology company is strongly preferred.
  • Strong command of UK payroll rules, including PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments such as SSP and SMP, and other deductions.
  • Solid knowledge of payroll processing, pay components, benefits in kind, and HMRC reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage enterprise customer relationships in a client-facing setting.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve complex payroll issues.
  • Strong interest in creating documentation and sharing knowledge.
  • Very good written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Background in a payroll provider, HR software business, or a large internal payroll department is highly desirable.
