Job description

About the company

Algonautin is a young impact-focused startup working to reshape education through digital learning environments. Its mission is to make computer science and media literacy engaging, accessible, and effective. The team develops platforms such as algo.bwinf that are already used by tens of thousands of students in Germany and the USA, with the goal of improving educational equity and transforming classroom learning.

Role overview

As a UX/UI Designer, you will connect learning content with the diverse learners who use it. Working alongside experienced teachers and the broader team, you will help create interactive exercises and learning formats, while shaping the experience around them from early ideas through to the final interface. The role focuses on making complex ideas feel approachable, playful, and motivating so students stay engaged beyond the first lesson.

What you will do

  • Design interactive exercises and educational learning formats that support an engaging user experience.
  • Translate learning content into clear, intuitive interfaces that are easy for students to understand.
  • Work with teachers and the internal team to develop concepts from initial sketches through to release.
  • Create visually consistent layouts and interaction patterns across the product.
  • Use storytelling and thoughtful design to make learning more tangible and memorable.
  • Contribute independently while keeping the broader goal of improving student learning experiences in focus.

What you should bring

  • A background in human-computer interaction, interface design, visual design, learning experience design, or a closely related discipline, or current study in one of these areas.
  • A strong sense for good design, including balanced layouts and consistent visual and interaction patterns.
  • Empathy for users, especially students, and the ability to shape content into meaningful learning moments.
  • Interest and enthusiasm for educational innovation and improving how students learn.
  • A reliable, structured, and self-directed working style with the ability to carry projects through independently.
  • Openness to feedback and a collaborative mindset that values shared outcomes over individual ideas.
  • Business-fluent English, since the team is international and also works with the USA.

What to expect

  • Room for creative ownership and the chance to help shape how the next generation learns computer science.
  • A highly qualified team with strong academic and competition achievements.
  • In-house tools that support flexible and creative work.
  • Fully remote work with freedom to choose your own hours.
  • The opportunity to contribute to lasting improvements in education and school learning.
  • Friendly, international team interactions and regular get-togethers.

Job details

  • This is a permanent role.
  • The position is fully remote.
  • Working time is flexible at 15 to 40 hours per week.
  • Compensation is 15 to 25 euros per hour.
  • The role can start immediately.
