About the role
Actavo is looking for a truck driver to carry out safe, skilled transport work as part of its operations in Cork, County Cork, Ireland. The company places strong emphasis on belonging, teamwork, client service, and making sure people return home safely, while also supporting employee wellbeing.
This position involves operating company vehicles within the limits of a Class C licence and delivering utility poles to locations across Ireland. The work also includes crane-assisted loading and unloading, secure transport, and safe delivery at customer or site locations such as overhead line installation and utility project sites.
What you will do
- Handle the safe collection, transport, loading, and delivery of goods.
- Use the onboard crane or similar lifting equipment to load, unload, and position poles while following all safe lifting, load-securing, and manual-handling rules.
- Organise delivery routes and schedules, coordinate with site contacts, and keep communication clear with site managers during delivery and unloading.
- Prepare and maintain delivery paperwork such as delivery notes, load manifests, driver/time logs, and digital tachograph records where required.
- Immediately report any faults, damage, or incidents involving the vehicle, crane, or secured load.
- Support yard operations when not on the road, including loading and unloading company and customer vehicles.
- Check and record company materials involved in deliveries and collections.
- Follow driving-hours rules and all other current transport regulations.
- Keep in contact with office staff, yard teams, customers, and other relevant parties.
What we are looking for
- A full, valid Irish or EU Category C / CE licence for rigid truck driving.
- A valid RSA Driver CPC card.
- A valid digital tachograph card and full compliance with tachograph and driving-hours requirements.
- Current certification or licence to operate crane-equipped vehicles or lifting equipment.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own routes and schedule.
- Strong communication skills.
- A solid understanding of health and safety expectations.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to spot and report vehicle or crane issues.
