Job description
Role overview
This role is based in East Tamaki, Auckland, and suits someone who enjoys applying transport expertise to a complex network environment. Reporting to the Head of Network Operations, the main purpose of the position is to strengthen and manage NZ Post’s relationships with transport contractors so that road transport services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with budget, service, and people expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Make sure all transport contractors meet NZ Post safety and wellbeing standards, including keeping incident records, contractor documentation, and registers up to date in Vault.
- Take part in safety and accident investigations where needed and help reduce risk and hazards.
- Build and sustain constructive, professional working relationships with transport contractors.
- Keep transport compliance current, address any non-compliance issues, and support delivery of transport KPIs.
- Handle contractor invoicing tasks, maintain accurate billing records, issue updated schedules, and ensure schedule changes are reflected and paid correctly.
About you
You bring a background in logistics, transport, or supply chain management, and you have built your career around transport knowledge. You are comfortable forming strong partnerships, working with contractors, and collaborating with others to deliver outcomes.
Experience and capabilities
- Prior experience in a support, relationship management, or office-based role involving suppliers or contractors.
- Background in transport or freight operations.
- Hands-on exposure to invoicing, accounts, or finance tasks.
- Working understanding of health and safety legislation and related practices.
- Confident use of Microsoft Office tools.
- Proven ability to maintain effective contractor relationships.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills across internal and external stakeholders.
- Good practical analytical ability.
- Ability to learn new systems and apply them effectively in the role.
