Job description

Role overview

The hiring organisation is looking for a skilled Training Coordinator to design and run high-quality learning programmes centred on transport accessibility and disability awareness. The role supports both internal teams and outside partners, including transport operators and professionals working in the built environment.

The position calls for practical familiarity with Ireland’s transport network and the needs of passengers with disabilities. A strong grasp of key transport modes, journey planning tools, passenger information services, accessibility supports, and the obstacles disabled travellers can face is essential.

Programme planning

  • Build and deliver a well-rounded training plan that serves internal staff and external partners across the transport and built environment sectors.
  • Work with subject-matter experts and stakeholders to identify learning gaps and ensure training aligns with current standards and regulations.

Content development and delivery

  • Shape and manage training content, curriculum, and supporting materials for external partners so that the material is inclusive, engaging, and aligned with the centre’s goals, while reflecting the perspectives of people with disabilities.
  • Deliver effective training sessions, workshops, and courses tailored to different learning preferences and experience levels.

Stakeholder engagement

  • Develop productive relationships with external partners such as transport operators and built environment professionals to understand their needs and co-create relevant programmes.
  • Represent the centre in discussions with stakeholders to keep training aligned with sector developments and expectations.

Coordination and logistics

  • Organise training dates, venues, and all logistical details for internal and external events, including maintaining a training calendar for sessions and activities.
  • Partner with other training coordinators to ensure smooth delivery, covering registrations, material preparation, and technology arrangements.
  • Act as the main coordination and logistics lead for the team.

Evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement

  • Create ways to measure the impact and effectiveness of training for both internal audiences and external participants.
  • Gather feedback and performance data to improve programme content, delivery methods, and overall outcomes.
  • Prepare detailed reports on attendance, completion, and results for internal stakeholders and industry partners.
  • Use data insights to support decisions and strengthen training initiatives.

Team support

  • Offer guidance, mentoring, and professional development support to colleagues.

Core experience and competencies

  • Significant background in training coordination, instructional design, or a closely related role, ideally with some exposure to the transport or built environment sectors.
  • Proven project management ability, including planning, delivery, and evaluation of training initiatives.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills for working with both internal and external audiences.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design approaches, and current training technologies.
  • Ability to design, coordinate, implement, oversee, and assess training activity for varied audiences.
  • Experience using learning management systems and other training software.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align training activity to organisational and sector objectives.
  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Awareness of industry regulations, standards, and best practice in the transport and built environment sectors.

Essential criteria

  • A postgraduate qualification in Education, Health Sciences, Business Administration, or a similar discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Desirable background

  • Experience in transport, accessibility, disability, or a comparable field.
  • An innovative approach to leadership, teaching, and learning that supports inclusion.
  • Ability to create effective teams, networks, or communities of practice and encourage constructive collaboration across teams.
  • Strong disability awareness and/or a solid working knowledge of Ireland’s transport system.
