The Biotechnologist role focuses on producing therapeutic proteins in a cGMP-compliant manufacturing environment. The position reports to the Senior, Section Lead, or Manager within the Manufacturing Large Scale, Small Scale, or Centralized Operations team.

Key duties
- Learn and carry out clearly defined procedures in a GMP manufacturing setting.
- Carry out equipment checks and basic 6S housekeeping activities.
- Complete routine laboratory support work such as sampling and measurements of pH, conductivity, and osmolality.
- Perform regular sanitisation tasks to keep facilities up to standard.
- Be trained and approved on performance measures related to CIP, SIP, and basic tank and instrument operations.
- Use aseptic practices while handling products and materials.
- Support basic troubleshooting for processes and equipment.
- Handle multiple equipment preparation and operational tasks while staying on schedule.
- Work toward full competence across all manufacturing tasks assigned to the area.
- Demonstrate basic troubleshooting ability in routine situations.
- Build a working understanding of critical process and operational parameters, including acceptable ranges and how different parameters affect one another.
- Use SOPs, logbooks, and batch records accurately and effectively.
- Submit samples through the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
Materials and equipment preparation
- Identify the correct materials using part numbers and FEFO-lotted stock.
- Select the proper dispensing booths, hoods, and weighing balances.
- Determine sampling needs based on the material RMS.
- Assemble autoclave components according to SOP requirements.
- Wash equipment so that no stains or residues remain.
Solutions preparation
- Develop stronger knowledge of setup differences and equipment use across customers and operations, including CIP and buffer/media transfer.
- Help identify and lead the installation of the correct setup and equipment for different customer operations.
- Understand why choosing the correct path and equipment is critical for different customers.
- Gain detailed knowledge of setup and equipment differences between single-use systems and conventional stainless-steel systems.
- Support planning and execution of CIPs to meet different customer needs, including HTST-related CIPs.
