Job description

Role overview

Arriva TrainCare is looking for a Train Presentation Operative to help keep passenger trains clean, safe, and ready to enter service. This is a permanent role based at Arriva TrainCare Crewe.

Working pattern

You will work around 30 hours per week on average, with shifts running from 20:00 to 05:00 on a 4-on, 4-off rota.

Pay and benefits

The salary for this position is £20,974.92 per year. The benefits package includes 26 days of annual leave inclusive of standard UK bank holidays, pension provision, life cover, healthcare cover, an Arriva UK Trains Travel Pass, a Cycle to Work scheme, and access to the Arriva Village retailer discount programme.

About Arriva TrainCare

Arriva TrainCare delivers overhaul, maintenance, and servicing solutions for passenger rolling stock, locomotives, freight wagons, and track plant. The business operates across the UK from six key sites: Crewe, Bristol, Eastleigh, Cambridge, Tyne Yard, and Scarborough. As part of Arriva, the team is guided by three core behaviours: caring passionately, doing the right thing, and making the difference.

What the job involves

  • Carrying out presentation cleaning tasks on trains before they enter service, including wiping interior doors, windows, and tables, vacuuming, and removing litter.
  • Preparing cleaning kits and equipment at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Making sure all required paperwork is completed accurately and in full.

What we are looking for

  • Some previous cleaning experience, ideally gained in a commercial or industrial setting.
  • A working knowledge of COSHH and the safe handling of hazardous substances.
  • The ability to work well on your own and as part of a small team.
  • Confidence working under pressure and to deadlines.
  • The ability to pass an industry-standard medical assessment.

Additional information

Because this role involves a night shift arrangement, applicants must be at least 18 years old. Applications may close early if a suitable candidate is found, and shortlisting and interviews may take place while the position is still advertised. Arriva also highlights its commitment to diversity and inclusion, with a focus on building a workforce that reflects a wide range of experiences, talents, and cultures.
