About the Role
Go Traffic Management Limited (GTM) is seeking an experienced Traffic Management Operative for their St Austell location. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of traffic management schemes across various projects, prioritizing both productivity and high health and safety standards. The position demands flexibility, requiring availability for day and night shifts, including some weekends. A proactive, responsible, and 'can-do' attitude is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage diverse traffic control methods including Give and Take, Priority, Stop/Go boards, portable traffic signals, convoy working, road closures, lane closures, and diversions.
- Ensure all traffic management activities adhere strictly to safe working methods and established best practice procedures.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop method statements for all traffic management operations.
- Execute job-related activities in accordance with laid-down procedures, identifying and reporting potential improvements to the line manager.
- Perform daily vehicle checks to maintain cleanliness, tidiness, and ensure the safety of the driver and passenger.
- Uphold a positive company image through professional conduct, appropriate attire, and site cleanliness.
- Proactively identify opportunities for operational improvements.
- Assist the public by safely guiding them through work sites.
- Determine when management intervention is necessary for operational issues.
GTM Golden Rules
- Only perform traffic management tasks for which you hold the necessary qualifications (e.g., LANTRA).
- Ensure all traffic management setups comply with current guidance and legislation, including the Red Book, Chapter 8, and ARTSM.
- Conduct regular site checks to maintain compliance.
- Report and immediately rectify any unsafe acts or conditions, if safe and competent to do so.
- Drive safely, avoiding distractions, adhering to speed limits, and exercising due care to prevent accidents.
- Park vehicles responsibly, considering the safety of the public and other road users.
- Wear the required five-point Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on site at all times.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum Lantra 12d accreditation, including TTMBC and 12d (M1-M2).
- Lantra 12 a/b accreditation, IPV driver, and foreman qualifications are advantageous.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the differences between Chapter 8 and the Safety at Street Works and Road Works (Red Book) and their practical application.
- Possess a full, valid UK driving licence.
- Ability to interpret and understand CAD drawings relevant to the required works.
- Prior mechanical experience with traffic lights is preferred.

A competitive hourly rate is offered, ranging from £12.21 to £15.00, dependent on qualifications. Enhanced rates are available for overtime.
