Role overview
TNGlobal is seeking a Technology Reporter to join its digital newsroom and deliver sharp, in-depth coverage of the technology landscape across Asia. This role can be based anywhere in Southeast Asia.
The company is a lean team that values ownership, initiative, and the freedom to shape strong ideas with the right support and resources.
What the role involves
- Finding, pitching, and writing stories focused on APAC technology and startup ecosystems.
- Working closely with the editorial team on story ideas, source development, and deadlines.
- Taking part in editorial conversations that influence coverage direction.
- Researching, writing, and editing news that is timely, accurate, and well-reasoned.
- Staying current on industry shifts, developments, and emerging trends.
- Developing a strong network of industry contacts to support interviews and original reporting.
- Remaining available during working hours and keeping communication active with editors.
Candidate profile
- You should be based in Southeast Asia and hold a degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, or a related discipline.
- You need at least 2 years of journalism experience in English.
- A strong curiosity about technology and the tech sector is important.
- You must be highly detail-oriented and consistently accurate in your work.
- You should be comfortable communicating across cultures; familiarity with one or more Southeast Asian local languages is an advantage.
- You should already have a network of professional and personal contacts across local and regional markets to help support credible reporting and on-the-ground context.
- You need to be persistent and able to keep going even when stories take time to come together or face setbacks.
