The business is recognised in Australia’s power generation sector and supplies industrial equipment such as turbines, generators, transformers, motors, battery storage systems, and related power infrastructure. Its work covers both new equipment supply and installation, as well as maintenance and upgrades of existing assets. The company’s team includes engineering, technical, commercial, and business development professionals focused on future energy needs.

About the Role

This position calls for an experienced Technical Support Manager to oversee technical support delivery across energy and power generation systems. The role centres on providing fast, reliable engineering assistance to internal stakeholders and clients, with particular emphasis on installed plant performance, problem resolution, and spare parts engineering. You will help support older power generation assets while working closely with engineering teams and original equipment manufacturers to deliver practical and commercially sound outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the engineering services technical support function and ensure technical questions are handled promptly and effectively.
  • Manage a team of up to 8 technical staff.
  • Provide engineering support for thermal and geothermal power generation systems, rotating equipment, and associated auxiliaries, with hydro power support as needed and training available where required.
  • Serve as a key contact for OEM stakeholders and coordinate with overseas support teams.
  • Oversee technical aspects of the spare parts business, including material suitability, quality checks, and engineering validation.
  • Improve and maintain technical support processes, including the use of support ticketing tools.
  • Contribute engineering input across project stages such as tendering, design reviews, and commissioning support.
  • Work alongside Principal Engineers to maintain alignment with engineering standards and design requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in support delivery, knowledge sharing, and engineering capability.

About You

You are a seasoned engineer with a solid technical background in power or industrial systems and a hands-on approach to solving problems and supporting clients. You should bring strong judgement, coordination skills, and the ability to work across multiple stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline.
  • Substantial experience in power generation, rotating equipment, or industrial plant systems.
  • Knowledge of steam turbines, valves, auxiliaries, or similar OEM equipment is highly desirable.
  • Background in technical support, operations, maintenance, or field service environments.
  • Ability to prioritise competing demands and provide timely, high-quality support.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Professional registration such as RPEQ (Queensland) or CAV (Victoria), or a clear commitment to work toward it, will be viewed favourably.
  • Experience in OEM service, site engineering, or technical maintenance support will also be an advantage.

Additional Information

  • This is a Sydney-based position in Winston Hills, New South Wales.
  • Travel may be required from time to time, with up to 3 to 4 weeks spread across the year.
