Job description

About the Role

Robots & Pencils is looking for a senior product leader who can turn advanced AI ideas into enterprise-ready products. This role centers on Generative AI and agentic systems, with responsibility for guiding products from early concept through production, scale, and measurable business value. You will help shape the company’s AI product practice while working closely with engineering, stakeholders, and AWS teams.

The opportunity is focused on solving the difficult gap between an impressive AI demo and a secure, compliant, scalable system that actually works in a real enterprise environment. The work includes building evaluation methods, reusable patterns, tools, and reference architectures inside the AWS ecosystem so AI delivery can be repeated reliably. The operating style is test-first, evidence-driven, and documentation-minded.

Product Strategy & AI Vision

  • Set the direction, roadmap, and product strategy for GenAI solutions, with agentic AI as the main emphasis, and connect technical capabilities to meaningful enterprise outcomes.
  • Turn business problems into clear product requirements, translate requests into outcome-based priorities, and make explicit decisions about what should be tackled now versus later.
  • Keep short-term rollout goals aligned with long-term scalability, maintainability, and platform health.
  • Track competitor activity and new agentic approaches to inform product and technology choices.

Discovery & Validation

  • Study how enterprise users interact with AI agents, identify the points where trust breaks down, and focus early testing on the highest-risk assumptions.
  • Design and execute experiments such as POCs, pilots, scenario-based workflow tests, edge-case analysis, and failure-recovery checks to validate agentic systems where normal QA is not enough.
  • Convert research findings, experiment results, and market insights into actionable product direction.

Agent Design, Prototyping & Production

  • Define how agents should behave, prototype prompts and tool schemas, and work with engineering on memory, summarization, and information flow across multi-step tasks.
  • Partner on architecture choices that balance quality, cost, and latency across models used at different steps in the workflow.
  • Create prototypes to test assumptions, define human-in-the-loop boundaries and guardrails, and decide when the agent should act independently or escalate to a person.
  • Build evaluation systems for task completion, reasoning quality, tool selection, failure recovery, and safety, while supporting production readiness through observability, drift monitoring, responsible AI practices, and prompt version control.
  • Establish outcome metrics such as task completion rate, cost per task, escalation rate, resolution time, and customer trust alongside core business KPIs.

Delivery & Execution

  • Own the full product lifecycle from discovery to phased release, define the metric framework, and communicate product impact to leadership.
  • Manage backlog, scope, dependencies, and risks while running agile ceremonies and producing strong PRDs, product briefs, and decision records.
  • Assess technology and platform choices from a product standpoint and create deployment playbooks, reference designs, and handoff materials so teams can continue supporting the solution independently.
  • Use AI tools to speed up research, analysis, prototyping, and documentation, while applying judgment about when human review is needed.

Stakeholder Management

  • Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and executives and act as a trusted advisor for AI product direction and rollout strategy.
  • Work with AWS Solution Architects and account teams on technical approach, service selection, and go-to-market planning for GenAI initiatives.
  • Set realistic expectations around scope, timing, and tradeoffs, and guide decision-making using data, alternatives, and clear reasoning.
  • Communicate AI strengths and limitations clearly to non-technical audiences, prevent unrealistic expectations, and uncover unmet needs that strengthen client relationships.

Required Skills & Background

This role calls for a very senior product professional with direct experience shipping AI products from prototype to scaled production. You should combine strong product judgment with deep technical fluency, be comfortable making decisions with incomplete information, and be able to move quickly in a space that changes rapidly.

Preferred Background

  • Experience in software engineering or hands-on coding, especially with Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Previous work in an agency or consulting delivery environment.
  • Exposure to Financial Services, Healthcare, or Life Sciences.
  • Familiarity with open-source LLMs such as Llama or Mistral for flexibility and cost optimization.
  • Experience leading time-boxed discovery work or technical spikes with fast validation loops.

Why This Role

You’ll work where advanced AI meets real business transformation, helping enterprise clients deploy generative and agentic solutions that materially change how they operate. The role combines the variety of consulting with the depth of product ownership: you will build, ship, and measure outcomes rather than simply advise. The environment is collaborative, technically strong, and focused on high-quality client work.

Additional Information

Experience requirement: 8–12+ years in product management, forward deployment, or solutions engineering. Candidates must already have shipped AI products from prototype into production at scale.

The role requires strong familiarity with the AWS AI ecosystem, including Bedrock, AgentCore, SageMaker, Strands, Kendra, OpenSearch, Lambda, and Step Functions, so informed product and architecture decisions can be made.

Key working expectations include operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, using AI responsibly to accelerate product work, and onboarding quickly into new domains while supporting the broader initiative.

Employment details provided for this position indicate a full-time, onsite role in the United States. No salary, stipend, number of openings, start date, or application deadline was specified.
