Job description

Role overview

The FAST Team Member role supports stores across an assigned district by traveling to locations and handling end-to-end variable work such as planogram execution. The position also assists with merchandise and fixture assembly, signage upkeep, store recovery, and other store support tasks. In addition, the role involves regular interaction with customers and store teams while helping create a standout customer experience.

Key duties

  • Keep attendance consistent and reliable.
  • Work assigned shifts and remain available for changing hours, days, nights, and overtime based on business needs.
  • Stay in regular contact with the District FAST Supervisor about progress, issues, and possible solutions.
  • Build and reset planograms accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain strong visual merchandising standards.
  • Take store measurements as required.
  • Support store layout projects and changes.
  • Carry out cycle counts with accuracy.
  • Complete the Tractor Way top cap process.
  • Install store signage.
  • Assemble merchandise, fixtures, and PDQs.
  • Handle detailed recovery work and verify planogram integrity.
  • Deliver a high-quality customer experience using the GURA service approach: greet customers, identify needs and wants, suggest suitable products, and ask to add value while thanking the customer.
  • Help provide peak coverage when needed, including busy seasonal periods such as the day after Thanksgiving.
  • Take on other assigned duties when required.

Required background

Candidates should have prior experience in retail and/or merchandising. Knowledge of farming, ranching, pets/equine, or welding is preferred. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory. All candidates must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

Preferred abilities

  • Background knowledge in farming, ranching, pets/equine, or welding.
  • Clear communication and solid problem-solving ability.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Strong people skills and the ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.
  • Self-directed work style with the ability to complete tasks independently.

Work environment

  • The work setting is generally indoors with moderate noise.
  • Shift lengths vary by store and are typically at least 4 hours, though they may run beyond 8 hours.
  • Travel between store locations in a personal vehicle is required, often for extended periods.
  • A safe and productive environment must be maintained in line with company safety training and guidelines.
  • Indoor floors and outdoor lots are typically hard surfaces such as concrete or asphalt, with adequate lighting and temperature conditions.

Physical demands

  • Ability to travel as needed to support district requirements.
  • Ability to push and pull merchandise weighing up to 2,000 pounds with proper equipment such as a pallet jack.
  • Ability to occasionally lift merchandise overhead or reach above shoulder level.
  • Frequent standing, kneeling, twisting, crouching, squatting, bending, stooping, and ladder use.
  • Ability to access all store areas, including the selling floor, side lot, stockroom, and register area.
  • Ability to continuously use store equipment such as a computer, cash register, and other tools.
  • Ability to read, write, and count accurately for documentation purposes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with team members and customers.
  • Ability to work around and handle birds/poultry.
  • Ability to complete all required training successfully.
  • Ability to use store equipment such as a dolly, hand truck, forklift, baler, computer, and cash register; forklift and baler requirements do not apply to employees under 18.
  • Ability to sit, drive, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, bend, and reach overhead as needed.
  • Ability to move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds throughout the store.
  • Ability to remain mobile throughout the store for an entire shift.
  • Non-sedentary role requiring physical and mental stamina to move quickly and safely through store and outdoor areas.
