Job description
Role Overview
Goodwill Industries of Kentucky is seeking an energetic, positive, and team-focused Team Leader for its retail store operation in Harlan, Kentucky. This role plays an important part in the store’s day-to-day success and supports the organization’s values of respect, excellence, and integrity through strong customer service.
The position is part of a broader mission-driven retail network that helps generate funding for employment programs and services across the Kentucky Bluegrass region. By working in retail, you contribute to opportunities for people facing barriers to employment while helping advance self-sufficiency and dignity through meaningful work.
Compensation and Schedule
Pay is $13.50 per hour. This is a full-time position. Store hours run Monday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Key Duties
- Guide Production Clerks in their tasks and demonstrate how work should be performed.
- Welcome donors and customers, provide prompt assistance, and deliver a high standard of service.
- Sort incoming materials and place merchandise into the store as needed.
- Keep inventory moving by rotating stock appropriately.
- Handle cashier responsibilities at the register.
- Complete any other related work assigned by management.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role requires solid basic math ability, comfort with making change, and the capacity to finish paperwork accurately and on time. Prior experience coaching or training others in a one-on-one setting is helpful.
Physical and Work Requirements
The work is generally light to medium in physical demand. It can involve sitting briefly, frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, and stooping, along with good hand dexterity, repeated motions, and the ability to talk, hear, and see clearly. The job also includes regularly lifting, pushing, or pulling 10 to 20 pounds and occasionally handling 20 to 50 pounds.
The ideal candidate should be able to perform material handling duties with limited restrictions, work with minimal supervision, and follow a rotating schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Reliable transportation to and from work is required. Travel to other locations is not part of this role.
Benefits
Employees may be eligible for a range of benefits, including a 403(b) plan with company matching contributions, an Employee Assistance Program, tuition reimbursement, medical, prescription, dental, and vision coverage, paid vacation and eight paid holidays, short- and long-term disability insurance, life and dependent life coverage, AD&D insurance, voluntary term life insurance, free career coaching with financial training and digital literacy support, a flexible schedule, access to the Cars to Work program, and a mission-centered career experience.
Mission and Work Environment
Working here means contributing to programs that support Kentuckians who face disabilities or other barriers to employment. The role is paid work, but it also directly supports community impact. Goodwill also welcomes applicants with prior background challenges and is a second-chance employer.
