Role Overview
The Düsseldorf office is seeking a Team Lead for Ocean Freight Export to oversee daily operations, guide the team, and support service quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
Operational Leadership
- Direct, coordinate, and monitor the day-to-day work of the ocean freight export team.
- Allocate tasks, track workloads, and make sure operational steps and deadlines are met on time.
- Ensure adherence to relevant regulations, documentation requirements, and internal policies.
- Assist with operational budgeting and contribute to cost control and financial planning activities.
Customer and Stakeholder Management
- Build and sustain strong partnerships with key clients to maintain high service standards and customer satisfaction.
- Serve as the primary operational point of contact for internal teams, suppliers, and outside service providers.
- Help grow existing accounts and support new business development in line with company goals.
Process and Performance Improvement
- Track KPIs and ensure service performance consistently meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Spot opportunities to improve processes and put more efficient ways of working into practice.
- Use IT tools and cost-saving initiatives to simplify and enhance operational workflows.
Team Development
- Coach team members, provide guidance, and share regular feedback on performance.
- Organize training and support ongoing skill development within the team.
- Encourage a cooperative, high-performing, and motivated working environment.
Requirements
- Between 5 and 10 years of experience in ocean freight operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership position.
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or comparable commercial training such as freight forwarding and logistics services coordinator qualification.
- Hands-on experience with ocean freight export shipments and related operational procedures.
- Strong knowledge of international shipping operations, paperwork requirements, and logistics processes.
- Very good written and spoken German and English.
- Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing processes, policies, and operational demands.
- Strong leadership, planning, and decision-making abilities.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
