Job description

Role overview

Bellurgan Precision Engineering is looking for a Team Lead to support its post-production operation in Dundalk, County Louth. This position sits within the post production team and is responsible for guiding day-to-day activity, acting as the department’s technical go-to person, and helping resolve quality or post-production challenges.

The role also includes supporting the team through training and mentoring, and stepping in for the Post-Production Supervisor when that person is away or unavailable. In that cover situation, the Team Lead will help keep work moving, manage communication with other departments, and make sure the area continues to run to standard.

Reporting structure and working relationships

The role reports to the Post Production Supervisor, Production Manager, or Operations Manager. It works closely with the Shipping Supervisor and serves as a bridge between production and post production to keep priorities aligned with customer and workload requirements.

Key duties

  • Act as the department’s subject matter expert within post production.
  • Keep the work area clean, organised, and compliant with 6S housekeeping and hygiene standards.
  • Follow all applicable health and safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Train and mentor new starters as well as existing team members.
  • Provide cover for the Post-Production Supervisor during annual leave or unexpected absence.
  • Escalate staffing issues or operational concerns to the Operations Manager when required.
  • Complete shutdown and closing checks for the production facility when needed.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for post-production staff when the supervisor is off site.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving for quality-related issues.
  • Maintain awareness of customer quality expectations and any quality issues affecting the department or arriving from production.
  • Coordinate weekly workload priorities and customer portal requirements with the Shipping Supervisor.
  • Prioritise items needed on the incoming inspection board.
  • Attend the 11:00am production meeting when the supervisor is unable to do so.
  • Allocate work across the team when the Post-Production Supervisor is absent.
  • Keep the post-production plan updated and adjust it where necessary.
  • Track production activity and customer demands so post-production work stays aligned with incoming jobs.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance is completed on equipment as needed and relay maintenance concerns to the Maintenance Engineer.
  • Promote continuous improvement, Lean thinking, scrap reduction, 6S discipline, process improvements, and structured problem solving.
  • Stay aware of the weekly workload, machine scheduling, and any upcoming jobs from production.
  • Carry out other reasonable duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership presence within a production or post-production environment.
  • Ability to mentor, train, and support team members effectively.
  • Sound problem-solving skills with a focus on quality issues and operational challenges.
  • Good understanding of housekeeping, hygiene, health and safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Capability to organise priorities, coordinate workload, and cover supervisory duties when required.
  • Awareness of Lean practices and continuous improvement methods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with production, shipping, maintenance, and management teams.
