Job description

About the Role

Voyago, part of Transdev Ontario Manitoba, is opening a new Student Transportation division in Kingston, Ontario and is looking for a Talent Acquisition Specialist to help build the team from day one. This role suits a recruiter who enjoys fast-moving, high-volume hiring, shaping processes in a start-up setting, and making a visible impact on a new operation and local community.

You will report to the Talent Acquisition Manager and help staff the division in time for the new school year. The position requires a strong understanding of recruitment, onboarding, and policy compliance, along with the ability to work closely with leadership and other internal teams.

This is an onsite role in Kingston. Hybrid work may be considered after six months of demonstrated success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment for multiple openings and ensure hiring targets are met efficiently.
  • Write and publish job postings, source candidates, and manage the full hiring process through to offer and onboarding.
  • Conduct interviews, keep candidate records accurate, and provide prompt follow-up.
  • Monitor recruitment activity, compile reports, and share insights that help guide leadership decisions.
  • Partner with marketing to create social media and advertising campaigns that support candidate attraction.
  • Support a strong new-hire experience by staying involved after hire and through the onboarding stage.
  • Collect, review, and organize all required hiring and onboarding documents.
  • Coordinate with Operations, Training, and other stakeholders to keep the launch hiring process running smoothly.
  • Develop local community relationships and partnerships that can strengthen recruitment results.
  • Look for ways to simplify admin work, improve recruitment processes, and strengthen hiring outcomes.
  • Bring forward creative ideas to attract candidates for the launch of the new division.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Recruitment, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience hiring in transportation.
  • Experience with full-cycle recruitment, including posting, screening, interviewing, extending offers, and onboarding.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Highly organized, with strong time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
  • Self-driven, goal-oriented, and effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with HR systems and applicant tracking systems; ADP experience is an advantage.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to source talent through multiple channels, including grassroots outreach and social media.
  • Creative approach to promoting job opportunities.
  • Willingness to travel across Southwestern and Central Ontario as needed.
  • Working knowledge of the Kitchener, Waterloo, Stratford, and Central Ontario regions.
  • Valid full G driver’s licence and a clean driving record.
  • Clean criminal record check.
  • Ability to build community connections in the region.
  • Prior high-volume hiring experience in a short timeframe, especially for a start-up, is considered a strong asset.
  • Must be available to work onsite in Kingston.

Perks and Benefits

  • Full-time employees receive comprehensive benefits, an Employee and Family Assistance Program, a company perks program, and an employee referral bonus.
  • Opportunity to work for an award-winning organization.
  • Career growth within a global transportation provider through Transdev.
  • Focus on innovation and sustainable environmental initiatives.
  • Support for employee development, work-life balance, and overall well-being.
  • Inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and helps employees thrive.
  • Chance to contribute to positive social impact through sustainable mobility solutions.
  • Opportunity to build experience within a local business connected to a global subsidiary.
