Job description
About the Company
Carta Healthcare is a healthcare technology company focused on improving patient outcomes by transforming patient data into structured, usable clinical information. Its AI-driven platform, Cartographer, reduces manual data-entry work and helps create a reliable clinical knowledge graph that supports better scheduling, staffing, and patient care.
The company operates in a remote-first model. This opportunity is limited to candidates who are legally permitted to work in the United States.
Role Overview
Carta Healthcare is looking for a driven and growth-oriented Talent Acquisition Lead to support the expansion of specialized clinical hiring, especially for Nurses and Clinical Data Abstractors, while also contributing to the wider talent acquisition function. The role partners closely with hiring managers, strengthens candidate experience, and helps a small recruiting team operate at a high level.
This is a hands-on recruiting position rather than a simple job-posting role. The ideal person is inventive in sourcing, comfortable working in a fast-changing environment, and committed to building a strong experience for both candidates and hiring teams.
Work Location and Schedule
This position is fully remote within the United States. Working hours should overlap with Eastern Time to support collaboration with hiring managers and the talent acquisition team.
Engagement Options
The company is open to either a full-time employee or a contract arrangement. Applicants are encouraged to share their preference, and flexibility is welcomed.
Full-time: This version reports to the Chief Financial Officer, includes the full scope of the role, and comes with equity participation and benefits. It is suited to someone who wants to help shape hiring over the long term and build deep relationships with hiring managers.
Contract: This option is an initial 3–6 month engagement that may be extended or converted to full-time. It reports to the engagement owner on the People team and focuses mainly on a defined hiring portfolio, primarily Nurses and Clinical Data Abstractors. In this version, the broader team-leadership responsibilities are lighter. A W-2 contract is preferred, though 1099 may be considered for the right candidate. Equity and benefits are not included.
Key Responsibilities
The role includes end-to-end recruiting, sourcing strategy, talent pipeline development, stakeholder partnership, candidate communication, recruiting analytics, and ongoing process improvement. It also involves supporting the TA team, maintaining ATS quality, and helping adapt recruiting and HR practices as the company grows.
What Success in This Role Looks Like
You will act as a recruiting partner and advisor to hiring managers, source passive talent through creative channels, manage several searches at once, and keep candidates informed throughout the interview process. You will also help improve recruiting workflows, strengthen employer branding, and ensure compliance with employment laws and internal process standards.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of full-cycle recruiting or talent acquisition experience, with strong success in healthcare or medical hiring.
- Direct sourcing experience for Nurses or Clinical Data Abstractors is strongly preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Background recruiting across corporate, technical, and/or healthcare functions.
- Advanced sourcing capability using LinkedIn Recruiter, Boolean search methods, healthcare databases, and niche online communities or job forums.
- Proven ability to partner with hiring managers and senior business stakeholders.
- Experience using modern applicant tracking systems; Greenhouse experience is a significant advantage.
- Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple searches at once in a fast-paced, growing environment.
- A curious, coachable mindset and comfort adapting to rapid change and new technologies, including AI-driven healthcare tools.
- Confidence working asynchronously in a remote-first setting.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Compensation and Benefits
Full-time compensation: Base salary of $90,000 to $100,000, depending on experience, skills, and location. Total compensation also includes equity and a performance bonus.
Contract compensation: $65 per hour on a 1099 basis, with an initial engagement of 3–6 months and the possibility of extension or conversion to full-time.
Full-time benefits include: medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k); remote-first flexibility with meaningful in-person time with the team; and generous PTO plus paid holidays.
Contract engagements do not include benefits, equity, or PTO, and the hourly rate is set accordingly.
