Job description

Role overview

Carta Healthcare is a remote-first healthcare technology company focused on improving patient outcomes by turning clinical data into usable insights. Its Cartographer platform reduces manual data abstraction work and helps generate trustworthy clinical knowledge graphs that support better surgical planning, staffing, and quality outcomes.

The company is seeking a growth-oriented Talent Acquisition Lead to strengthen specialized hiring for clinical teams, especially Nurses and Clinical Data Abstractors, while also contributing to broader recruiting efforts. The role is built for someone who enjoys proactive sourcing, partnering closely with hiring managers, and improving the overall candidate experience in a fast-changing environment.

Work location and schedule

This position is remote within the United States. Working hours should overlap with Eastern Time to enable close collaboration with hiring managers and the talent acquisition team. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must reside within the continental United States.

Employment options

The role is available either as a full-time position or as a contract engagement. Full-time employment includes the broader leadership scope, equity participation, benefits, and reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. The contract option is initially for 3 to 6 months, may be extended or converted to full-time, and focuses mainly on a defined hiring portfolio. For contract work, W-2 is preferred, though 1099 may be considered for the right candidate. Contract engagements do not include equity, benefits, or PTO.

Key responsibilities

You will help lead and support a small talent acquisition team, manage end-to-end recruiting, and act as a trusted partner to hiring managers across the business. The work centers on clinical hiring, but may also include corporate and technical roles as needed. You will build sourcing strategies, keep talent pipelines active, run screens and interviews, maintain ATS hygiene, and use hiring data to improve recruiting performance.

What success in this role looks like

The ideal hire is a creative recruiter who can find hard-to-source healthcare talent, manage multiple searches at once, communicate clearly with busy stakeholders, and help strengthen recruiting processes over time. The role calls for someone who is comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment while collaborating closely with others across the organization.

Compensation and benefits

The full-time salary range is $90,000 to $100,000 per year, with final compensation depending on experience, skills, and location. Full-time total compensation also includes equity and a performance bonus.

The contract option pays $65 per hour and is structured as a 1099 engagement, with an initial term of 3 to 6 months and the possibility of extension or conversion.

Full-time benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k), remote-first flexibility with some in-person collaboration, and generous PTO plus paid holidays.

Additional information

Carta Healthcare emphasizes mission-driven work, a collaborative culture, and the chance to contribute to products that help hospitals provide better, faster, safer care. The company is committed to equal opportunity and inclusion. Reasonable accommodations are available during the application or interview process.

Application instructions

Applicants should submit a résumé along with a short note explaining why the role is of interest. Candidates should also specify whether they are applying for the full-time or contract option, or are open to either, and share an example of a difficult clinical role they successfully filled and how they found the candidate.

Equal opportunity and legal notice

The employer follows applicable federal law, and all hires must verify identity and work eligibility in the United States and complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. The organization states that it values diversity and inclusion and does not discriminate on the basis of protected characteristics under federal, state, or local law.
