Role Overview
The Supply Planning Lead is responsible for overseeing the production of finished goods and ensuring product availability to support sales demand. The role focuses on balancing supply, inventory, production planning, and cross-functional coordination to keep operations running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and support the supply planning team while ensuring their work aligns with business objectives.
- Track team performance regularly and share feedback that supports professional growth.
- Introduce supply chain improvements that increase efficiency and lower costs.
- Act as a connector across departments to help resolve issues and strengthen collaboration.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts that enhance efficiency and supply reliability.
- Review sales forecasts with the sales team, checking assumptions and improving forecast accuracy.
- Build long-term and short-term supply plans, along with annual, monthly, and weekly production schedules.
- Adapt supply planning processes to better fit the KSA business model.
- Ensure suppliers can support production plans and maintain continuity of material supply.
- Watch finished goods and material pricing to keep costs within approved budgets.
- Set controls for raw material and finished goods working capital.
- Define MTS and MTO SKUs and determine stock levels that meet demand while reducing slow-moving and non-moving inventory.
- Work with materials planning suppliers to secure the materials needed for production.
- Monitor and improve utilization of available resources.
- Assess toller performance, issue production orders, and post production transactions in SAP.
- Provide Finance with production POs and GRNs so invoices can be processed, and support weekly production settlement and issue resolution.
- Coordinate with Procurement on contracts involving the toller and raw material vendors.
- Partner with Quality to resolve issues involving finished goods, raw materials, and packaging materials.
- Complete monthly, quarterly, and yearly stock counts and ensure system quantities match physical inventory.
Education and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Business Administration is required.
The role calls for more than 8 years of relevant supply chain planning experience, including managing suppliers and third-party production processes within consumer-packaged goods or similarly complex environments.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability.
- Hands-on experience with SAP or comparable ERP platforms.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Clear communication and effective cross-functional coordination.
- Practical understanding of supply planning, inventory control, and supplier management.
- Advanced capability in Excel and PowerPoint; Power BI knowledge is an advantage.
- Experience using process excellence tools to improve operations.
- Ability to work independently and stay organized in a structured environment.
- Confidence in addressing conflict and challenging the status quo to improve processes.
- Ability to coach, motivate, and grow diverse talent.
- Comfort working through ambiguity and building alignment across different perspectives.
- Strong presentation, data visualization, time management, and prioritization skills.
