Job description

Role overview

A privately held manufacturing business with more than $50 million in revenue is expanding and investing in its operations leadership. This newly created position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is designed for someone who can shape, strengthen, and scale the company’s end-to-end supply chain. The role is a strong fit for a high-potential Supply Chain Manager or an early-career Director who wants broader ownership and the chance to influence the direction of a growing organization known for its positive culture.

Key responsibilities

  • Set and lead the full supply chain approach, covering purchasing coordination, inventory planning, transportation, logistics, and supplier management.
  • Oversee inbound international freight activities, including ocean freight, carrier rate discussions, and coordination with suppliers.
  • Handle outbound transportation operations across LTL, parcel, and truckload channels, with a focus on improving delivery performance for customers.
  • Work on freight contract and carrier agreement negotiations to raise service quality and lower transportation spend.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Purchasing, Inventory, Production, and Customer Service teams to improve visibility and day-to-day execution across the supply chain.
  • Lead improvement efforts aimed at better inventory management, stronger supplier performance, more efficient transportation, and improved operational KPIs.
  • Use ERP platforms and data analysis to support better decisions and increase supply chain transparency.

Candidate profile

The ideal professional brings 5 to 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain and/or logistics, specifically within a manufacturing setting. Strong knowledge of both inbound international freight and outbound domestic transportation is essential. The role also calls for proven results in freight negotiation, carrier management, and transportation cost reduction, along with experience in purchasing, inventory planning, supplier management, and cross-functional operational work. Candidates should be comfortable using ERP systems, be highly skilled in Excel, and have Power BI knowledge as an advantage. Above all, the company is seeking a proactive, hands-on leader who likes solving problems, taking ownership, and driving continuous improvement.

Who this role suits

This opportunity is best suited to ambitious supply chain professionals who are ready to step into a broader leadership role and help build the systems, processes, and partnerships needed for a scaling manufacturing business.
