Role Overview

This position reports to the Senior Supervisor and is responsible for leading the daily operations of the cold storage area. The role focuses on protecting product quality, maintaining food safety compliance, and keeping work flowing efficiently. It requires hands-on leadership, strong team management, and close attention to regulatory and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day cold store activity to ensure product is stored and retrieved efficiently.
  • Track inventory and keep stock records accurate.
  • Maintain strict temperature control and careful product-handling standards.
  • Guide, coach, and supervise staff to support smooth operations.
  • Ensure all work meets health and safety, food safety, quality, regulatory, and market access expectations.
  • Encourage and uphold safe working practices at all times.
  • Review, improve, and maintain documented systems, procedures, and processes.
  • Help lower absenteeism and staff turnover through effective leadership and engagement.
  • Support training and development so the team maintains the right skill coverage.
  • Keep the Senior Supervisor updated on operational concerns, risks, and improvement opportunities.

About You

The role is best suited to someone who performs well in a busy environment, leads by example, and takes safety, quality, and people development seriously. You should bring solid supervisory strength together with practical operational and compliance knowledge.

Ideal Experience and Skills

  • Proven background supervising teams in cold storage, processing, or manufacturing settings.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality systems, and health and safety requirements.
  • Experience handling people performance, attendance, and development.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with different stakeholders.
  • Strong planning, coordination, and problem-solving ability.
  • A genuine focus on continuous improvement and building team capability.
