Job description

About the company

Whatnot is a leading live shopping marketplace across North America and Europe, where people can discover, buy, and sell everything from collectibles and fashion to electronics and live plants. Sellers on the platform are turning their interests into full-fledged businesses across a wide range of categories. The company is building live commerce at a scale that has not previously been established in Western markets, helping define a brand-new industry.

The organization operates with a remote, co-located model and collaborates across hubs in the US, UK, Ireland, Poland, Germany, and Australia. It values speed, staying close to users, and concentrating on the work with the highest impact. The business is among the fastest-growing marketplaces and has been recognized as the #1 Best Startup Employer in America by Forbes.

Role overview

This is the first hire of its kind in Australia within the Commerce Strategy & Operations team, which influences decisions across the marketplace ecosystem, including buyer experience, seller experience, trust and risk, fraud, logistics, and payments. The role focuses on shaping post-purchase operations and improving the experience for Australian users.

What you will do

  • Define and steer the strategy for post-purchase operations in close collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams, with a focus on scalable, high-quality experiences for Australian users.
  • Turn findings from operational performance data and user behavior into priorities, roadmaps, and initiatives that raise quality, speed, and scalability.
  • Work with the global Commerce team to roll out improvements to the user experience and take ownership of execution from start to finish.
  • Drive complex cross-functional projects from issue framing through delivery, making sure goals, accountability, and measurable results stay aligned.
  • Create and refine scalable processes, systems, and operating models that can support continued growth and changing user needs.
  • Act as a strategic advisor and Australia representative to senior leadership, offering data-backed recommendations and clear trade-offs to support decisions.
  • Monitor operational performance continuously and look for ways to improve efficiency, resilience, and the customer journey.
