Job description

Role overview

M Group Energy is focused on keeping essential infrastructure running, improving it where needed, and building it for the future. The organisation supports career growth in a workplace that values safety, respect, customer focus and a positive team environment.

About the team

You would join the Transmission & Renewables team, which works on substations up to 400kV and delivers construction and maintenance services for transmission lines and substations. The wider business provides end-to-end solutions across electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV infrastructure, metering and home decarbonisation.

This position supports projects across England, so regular travel and time away from home may be needed depending on contract demands. Weekend working may also be required.

What the role involves

As a Stores Person, you will report to the Lead Material Controller and take ownership of materials control on and off site, while keeping the yard organised and safe. The job includes handling deliveries, issuing materials, managing equipment records and supporting site operations as needed.

  • Receive, dispatch and record goods accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Manage materials moving in and out of the main yard and other site locations, including loading and unloading vehicles.
  • Support the preparation of site tower fittings when required.
  • Move materials to different site areas as needed.
  • Oversee lifting equipment, including items held in quarantine.
  • Help order and track site plant, equipment and PPE.
  • Ensure delivery paperwork and inspection certificates are collected, maintained and controlled correctly.
  • Keep the Line Manager informed of relevant updates and issues.
  • Follow company procedures and policies at all times.
  • Take on additional duties where needed to meet changing business and customer requirements.

What you need to bring

The role suits someone organised, safety-conscious and comfortable working in a construction or outdoor environment. Prior experience in a similar position is useful, though not essential.

  • A valid Forklift Truck licence.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel, work away from home and work weekends when needed.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Previous telehandler experience.
  • Experience in construction or an outdoor working environment.
  • Understanding of specialist OHL plant and equipment.

Benefits and rewards

  • Matched or contributory pension scheme.
  • 24/7 online GP access, available 365 days a year.
  • Employee assistance programme.
  • Access to the My Rewards portal with thousands of retail discounts.
  • Life assurance.
  • Cycle to work, salary finance and give-as-you-earn schemes.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and adoption leave.
  • Reward and recognition programme.
  • Company van/vehicle and fuel card for business use.
  • Lodge allowance.
  • 21 days of annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • Paid overtime.

Its values emphasise responsibility, openness, teamwork and ambition, with a focus on delivering essential infrastructure services for life. Employees also benefit from recognised training, development and progression opportunities.
