Job description

Role overview

The Storeperson role sits within the Stores department and is responsible for handling warehouse receivals and dispatch activities safely and efficiently. The position plays an important part in making sure inventory is received correctly, stored properly, and sent out on time. It also supports internal teams and outside partners to help maintain smooth operations and a positive customer experience.

Key duties

  • Follow Chain of Responsibility obligations and comply with all applicable safety rules and procedures.
  • Check incoming deliveries carefully against purchase orders and delivery paperwork.
  • Record and escalate any shortages, damages, or other differences found during receiving.
  • Make sure received items are labelled correctly and placed in the proper storage locations without delay.
  • Pack and prepare outgoing orders in line with company standards and customer requirements.
  • Work with logistics providers to arrange timely collection and delivery of goods.
  • Complete shipping documents accurately and keep them properly filed.
  • Carry out regular stock counts and cycle checks to keep inventory records current.
  • Use computer systems competently as needed to perform warehouse tasks.
  • Keep the warehouse and storage areas tidy, organised, and safe.
  • Flag slow-moving or obsolete items to management.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy in all warehouse work to reduce mistakes.
  • Support Warehouse Supervisors with additional office and administrative tasks when required.

Working relationships

  • Collaborate with the procurement team to support accurate and timely order fulfilment.
  • Coordinate with internal departments to manage warehouse workflows and resolve issues.
  • Handle customer questions professionally and help resolve concerns effectively.
  • Build productive relationships with suppliers and logistics partners to keep operations running smoothly.

Requirements

  • Valid forklift licence and practical experience using warehouse equipment.
  • Strong eye for detail and good organisational ability.
  • Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as contribute effectively in a team setting.
  • Comfort using inventory management systems and basic computer programs.
  • Good understanding of safety requirements and Chain of Responsibility principles.
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory control practices.
  • Experience carrying out stock takes and reconciling inventory.
