Store Manager - Riccarton

About the Role

Platypus Shoes, part of Accent Group, is seeking a Store Manager for its Riccarton location in Christchurch. In this role, you will guide a passionate retail team, work alongside the Assistant Store Manager, and take ownership of store sales, performance measures, and customer experience. You will partner with the Area Manager to identify growth opportunities and help maintain a strong presence in a busy, high-visibility retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the store to meet sales goals, key performance indicators, and visual merchandising expectations.
• Inspire and direct the team to deliver strong commercial results and excellent service.
• Track sales results on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, recognising successes and spotting opportunities to improve.
• Create rosters and control wage expenses in line with business requirements and targets.
• Train, mentor, and develop team members while maintaining motivation and planning for future leadership needs.
• Manage inventory, store standards, and overall operational execution.
• Maintain compliance with health and safety requirements and applicable legislation.

Experience and Skills

• Background as a Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment.
• Confident leadership style with a practical, outcomes-driven approach.
• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to develop team capability.
• Proven ability to improve sales and manage store-level results.
• Experience handling stock control, retail operations, and visual merchandising.
• A genuine commitment to creating a great customer experience.
