Job description

About the Company

The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo), established in 1877, is among Australia’s major beef cattle businesses. Its operations cover more than 6.1 million hectares and include the world’s largest single herd as well as Five Founders Beef. The company has around 220 employees working across Queensland and the Northern Territory, with 15 cattle stations, a depot in Mount Isa, a feedlot and farm in the Darling Downs, and a Brisbane CBD office.

Role Overview

NAPCo is seeking Station Hands to join its teams on stations in Queensland or the Northern Territory.

What the Role Involves

  • Supporting cattle work, with low-stress stock handling experience considered a strong advantage.
  • Riding horses or motorbikes confidently for mustering and cattle work.
  • Assisting across mustering, fencing, and a range of other general station tasks as needed.
  • Operating machinery where required; prior exposure is valued but not essential.
  • Working effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Following workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Bringing a positive attitude, energy, and motivation to the job.

Benefits

  • Permanent full-time employment, with commencement on station in February/March 2026.
  • Competitive daily pay, plus generous annual leave and a season completion bonus.
  • Strong investment in hands-on training, including encouragement and support to complete an Agriculture traineeship.
  • Meals and air-conditioned accommodation supplied.
  • A social station environment with opportunities to join annual Station Challenge activities, campdrafts, sports days, fishing, camping, and similar events.

Application Information

Applicants should submit an online application with both a resume and a cover letter explaining their interest in working with NAPCo.

  • If applying as a working couple, both resumes must be included.
  • Not every station allows dogs.
  • For further details, contact 0429 399 630 or hr@napco.com.au.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • Before starting, successful candidates must complete an Australian National Police Check.
  • Vaccination against Q Fever is required, with all related costs covered by NAPCo.

Equal Opportunity

NAPCo is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to maintaining a workplace that supports diversity and inclusion.
