About the role

The City of Burgwedel is looking to fill a fixed-term full-time position in the Ordnungs- und Sozialamt as a civil registrar (Standesbeamter, d/m/w) to cover parental leave. The role starts as soon as possible and is based on a 39-hour workweek. The position is classified under EG 9b TVöD (VKA); the final pay grade depends on the candidate’s personal qualifications. Partial home office may be possible.

What you will do

  • Carry out the preparatory and follow-up work, as well as the official certification of births, marriages, and deaths.
  • Conduct wedding ceremonies, including Saturday appointments outside normal working hours.
  • Maintain and update civil status registers.
  • Receive and certify declarations of church withdrawal, applications for name changes, and acknowledgements of maternity and paternity.
  • Issue civil status certificates and related documents.

What the employer is looking for

  • A completed degree in public administration (Diplom FH or bachelor’s degree / qualification for career group II, first entry level) or in public administration/business administration.
  • Alternatively, a completed qualification as a qualified administrative employee with a successfully completed Angestelltenlehrgang II.
  • Alternatively, completed training as an administrative employee plus at least 20 years of professional experience in public service.
  • Completed basic civil registry training with a passed examination.
  • A friendly, open, and confident manner, along with a high level of flexibility and willingness to take on assignments.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, independent and highly accurate work style, initiative, communication and teamwork skills, negotiating ability, and assertiveness.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office and openness to information technology.
  • Willingness to take part in regular training in the assigned area of work.
  • Previous experience in a registry office and familiarity with the Autista software would be an advantage.
