Spa Therapist

Role overview

This position is for a Spa Therapist in Doha, Qatar, within a hotel spa environment. The role is full-time and based onsite. It is a non-management position and falls under the Spa job family.

What the role involves

The therapist will deliver massage and body treatment services to guests, using tools, products, scrubs, wraps, and hydrotherapy as appropriate. Before any service begins, guest needs must be reviewed and any health-related restrictions or contraindications such as allergies, high blood pressure, or pregnancy must be checked. The therapist is also expected to escort guests to and from treatment rooms, prepare the workspace and treatment area, and ensure guest comfort, safety, and privacy throughout the session.

Day-to-day work includes promoting spa and salon services, including retail items connected to the spa, and keeping tools clean, maintained, and sterilized. The workstation and treatment room must remain tidy throughout the shift, with waste and used linens removed and supplies secured at the end of the day. Time management is important, as services must stay on schedule. The therapist must also handle inappropriate guest conduct according to company procedure, up to and including stopping a treatment and alerting a supervisor or manager.

Operational and conduct expectations

The position requires strict adherence to company policies, procedures, safety practices, uniform and grooming standards, and confidentiality requirements. Any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions must be reported promptly, and any required safety training or certifications must be completed. The role also calls for courteous service, clear communication, strong teamwork, and the ability to maintain positive working relationships.

Physical duties include standing, sitting, or walking for long periods, as well as handling, turning, and moving objects of different sizes and weights. The role also requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance. Additional reasonable duties may be assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

Candidates should have a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree and at least 1 year of relevant work experience. No supervisory background is required. A State or Regional Massage License is mandatory, and the therapist must keep current skills and licensure in line with regional requirements.
