Job description

Company Overview

eJam is a privately funded consumer products business that has launched, scaled, and successfully exited several brands without raising outside capital. Its portfolio includes leading products that rank highly on Amazon, are stocked by major national retailers, and are sold through direct-to-consumer, marketplace, and other sales channels.

This is not an early-stage company still testing the waters. The team has repeatedly taken products from launch to eight-figure revenue, placed them on retail shelves across the country, and developed brands that shoppers genuinely like. The organization runs with the agility of a startup and the structure of a holding company, which means a compact team, minimal red tape, and strong ownership.

The role offers exposure to the full consumer products lifecycle, including sourcing, product development, packaging, manufacturing, compliance, marketing, marketplace strategy, and retail. For someone who wants to understand how consumer products are built and brought to market at scale, this environment provides a fast and practical learning curve.

Position Summary

The Sourcing and Purchasing Manager will oversee the procurement of goods and services from suppliers across North and South America, making sure purchasing activity supports company objectives and day-to-day operational effectiveness. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, comfortable managing vendors, focused on cost control, and skilled at working with cross-functional partners to support demand planning and quality expectations. This is an individual contributor position reporting to the Director of Supply Chain.

What the Role Involves

  • Stay in regular contact with suppliers to confirm purchase orders, keep deliveries on schedule, and resolve issues related to shipments or production timing.
  • Review stock levels and demand planning information, then place replenishment orders as needed to maintain healthy inventory across channels.
  • Work with vendors on pricing, payment terms, and delivery timelines to support cost efficiency and operational speed.
  • Prepare, review, and submit purchase orders through the company’s procurement system, ensuring product details, quantities, and delivery dates are correct.
  • Track shipment progress, verify expected arrival times, and escalate delays early so they can be resolved quickly.
  • Coordinate with Product Development, Quality Control, and Supply Chain teams so purchasing aligns with launches and operational targets.
  • Handle supplier-related issues such as defects or order mismatches by partnering with Quality Control to protect product standards.
  • Look for ways to improve procurement workflows, lower costs, and strengthen supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and assess new suppliers in North America based on quality, cost, and delivery capability.
  • Place product orders in coordination with internal teams to meet inventory needs and improve supply chain flow.
  • Create purchase orders and help ensure goods and services are delivered on time.
  • Keep precise records of purchases, pricing, and inventory activity.
  • Spot opportunities to reduce costs and improve procurement processes.
  • Maintain strong relationships with manufacturing and supply partners while ensuring contract terms and performance standards are met.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with both new and existing vendors.
  • Build and apply procurement approaches that improve efficiency and control spend.
  • Monitor supplier performance and verify compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Partner with Product Development, Demand Planning, and Quality Control to align buying decisions with product requirements and market demand.
  • Take part in cross-functional meetings to refine sourcing plans and support smooth execution.
  • Build deep product knowledge for assigned items to uncover procurement improvements.
  • Help update purchasing rules and workflows to improve overall operational effectiveness.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience, ideally within eCommerce or consumer goods.
  • Demonstrated background in vendor management, price negotiation, and supply chain efficiency.
  • Strong analytical ability plus solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable speaking with North American vendors by phone on a daily basis when necessary.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment and manage time effectively.
  • Working knowledge of procurement and inventory management tools or systems.
  • Detail-focused, proactive, and motivated by results.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication, both written and spoken, is preferred.
  • Experience sourcing products, ingredients, and components in the CPG space is highly preferred.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Deliver 10% annual cost savings through stronger vendor negotiations and process improvements.
  • Maintain 98% on-time supplier delivery performance.
