Role overview

Google is hiring a Software Engineer II for the Google Pay and Wallet team in Singapore. The role focuses on building and improving global business payment journeys and contributing to products that operate at large scale.

Work authorization note

Preference will be given to candidates who already have the right to work in Singapore and do not need visa sponsorship from Google.

Minimum qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • At least 1 year of software development experience in one or more programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a full-stack development environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience in software testing, maintenance, or product launch work, along with 1 year of experience in large-scale application design and architecture.
  • Experience working with Java, C, C++, or JavaScript.

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong practical grounding in computer science fundamentals, including software architecture, algorithms, and advanced data structures.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and core software design principles.
  • Ability to work closely with Tech Leads and Product Managers and support launch approvals across internal and external enterprise integrations.
  • Self-directed mindset with the ability to take ownership from idea through delivery.
  • Interest in building innovative products and adapting them to complex partner needs.

Software engineers at Google build technologies that affect billions of people around the world. The work spans high-scale systems beyond search, including distributed systems, networking, storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI, and mobile. In this position, you will own a project that matters to Google’s business, with the opportunity to move across teams and projects as the company evolves. The team values versatility, leadership, and a willingness to solve new problems across the full stack.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineers to design, build, maintain, and enhance solutions that support global business payment journeys.
  • Handle development work end to end, including implementation, unit testing, and integration.
  • Contribute to the long-term direction of Google Pay and help the team execute against that vision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the US and India, including Platforms, Product, Trust, Safety, Risk, Marketing, Design, and Content.
  • Own the full service lifecycle, including production rollout, monitoring, alerting, on-call support, bug resolution, and response to user feedback.
