Job description

Role Overview

The Social Media Coordinator position is based in Chicago, IL and calls for hands-on social media expertise, along with a strong interest in restaurant-focused marketing. The ideal candidate will be deeply engaged with food, travel, and culture, and able to turn brand stories into content that builds audience engagement and supports revenue growth.

Core Responsibilities

  • Stay current on social platforms, content-sharing tools, and emerging applications, while maintaining a solid grasp of social networking best practices.
  • Build subject-matter knowledge around culture, food, and travel, including the people, products, and processes that shape those spaces.
  • Track trends in the industries served by the agency and apply them to content and strategy.
  • Understand each partner’s brand voice and craft genuine stories that strengthen engagement and contribute to business results.
  • Help evolve and communicate Kinship’s own story across internal practices, marketing collateral, reports, plans, relationships, and both live and digital channels.
  • Collaborate with teammates to produce strong storytelling and copy across all communications.
  • Develop a working knowledge of measurement, analytics, and reporting tools.
  • Assess and suggest social media software and platform options.

Partner Support

  • Represent partners with care and professionalism, while actively looking for ways to strengthen relationships and protect their brand presence.

Photography and Videography

  • Create short-form social videos, including Reels, from onsite visits and production shoots.
  • Carry out onsite content visits and photography sessions.

Content Creation

  • Lead the direction of creative content and shape campaign identity, including visual style, tone, messaging, and taglines.
  • Attend shoots and style photo and video assets.
  • Bring timely trends into campaign concepts and execution.
  • Decide what types of photo and video coverage are needed for each shoot.
  • Prepare shot lists and creative treatments.
  • Build visual storylines that can be translated into photo and video.
  • Coordinate shoot logistics with partners.
  • Ensure every asset aligns with the partner’s brand identity and visual standards.
  • Produce content for social media channels, including original calendars and day-to-day posting assets.
  • Create and design Instagram and Facebook Stories on a daily basis.
  • Write original copy for posts and stories.
  • Lead story-gathering conversations with partners and turn notes into usable social copy.
  • Shape narratives across social platforms.
  • Curate and repurpose user-generated content.
  • Review content performance and adjust creative direction when needed.
  • Design graphics that support stronger social performance.
  • Use AI tools to assist with writing and content development, including AI features built into social platforms.
  • Attend partner events and help run live social coverage.

Engagement and Community Management

  • Monitor partner channels and look closely at audience growth, acquisition, influencer and blogger opportunities, paid spend, analytics, and optimization.
  • Develop proactive outreach and engagement strategies.
  • Maintain audience lists that include relevant businesses, events, and related contacts.
  • Plan monthly tag and inclusion strategies.
  • Engage with partner communities to grow online interaction and digital visibility.
  • Respond to comments, mentions, direct messages, check-ins, location tags, hashtags, and other audience interactions across client platforms.
  • Support engagement with earned media audiences, event audiences, and neighboring business or location audiences.
  • Conceptualize and deliver social activations such as events, live feeds, programming, takeovers, Instagram meetups, social-media-only promotions, interactive experiences, customer content amplification, and direct audience news updates.
  • Develop monthly social strategy plans.
