Job description
About JDN Tuition
JDN Tuition is an Australian tutoring startup focused on delivering personalised one-to-one tutoring and mentorship that helps students develop strong subject knowledge and real confidence. The business already has tutoring expertise in place and is now looking to build a standout content engine to support brand growth.
About the role
This is a part-time, hybrid position based in Sydney, with some flexibility for Melbourne candidates. You will work closely with the founder, Jayden, and the wider team. Much of the work can be done from home, including scripting, research, competitor tracking, briefing an editor, scheduling content, and supporting organic growth. A significant part of the role is also hands-on, including filming around Sydney, visiting university campuses, supporting tutors, and helping produce podcast content, including boat shoots. The role is highly involved and best suited to someone deeply motivated by content and marketing.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of the content calendar and steer the creative direction for each video, including topics, hooks, pacing, runtime, and visuals.
- Draft and improve scripts, find supporting visuals, and stay involved in the editing process to help improve retention.
- Film content with tutors on campus, across Sydney, and during podcast shoots.
- Support creators by helping them shoot content and reviewing it before publication.
- Publish and manage posts across TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.
- Monitor competitors every day to see what they are posting, when they post it, and what formats are performing well.
- Maintain performance data in spreadsheets, including views, watch time, conversions, and the content types worth repeating.
- Stay on top of news, trends, and memes, then quickly turn timely moments into content.
- Create content that speaks to both students and parents, recognising that students drive attention while parents often make the final decision.
- Review results regularly, remove weak-performing ideas, and keep testing new formats with strong potential.
Who we're looking for
The ideal person has first-hand knowledge of the HSC, a strong ATAR background, and experience tutoring or having tutored in the past. You should understand both the student mindset and the parent perspective. A real passion for content is essential: you should care deeply about why certain videos perform while others fail, and be comfortable spending significant time analysing hooks, retention, pacing, lighting, audio, thumbnails, and titles. You should also be curious, well organised, eager to keep learning, and happy to work in the field rather than sit behind a desk all day. Having your own transport is helpful for moving around Sydney for shoots.
Requirements
- Must be based in Sydney, or alternatively Melbourne.
- Strong understanding of the HSC and a solid ATAR background.
- Prior tutoring experience, or current/former tutoring work.
- Some experience in social media marketing or content creation, including internships or personal posting.
- Deep interest in content creation and the mechanics behind high-performing videos.
- Willingness to work hands-on in the field and travel for shoots.
- Ability to get around for filming; having your own transport is an advantage.
Preferred background
- Already creates and posts content on a personal channel that has performed well.
- Good grasp of digital marketing concepts such as funnels, campaigns, and analytics tools.
- Comfortable using scheduling tools and basic design apps like Canva, with some light editing ability being helpful.
- Studies or experience in Marketing, Communications, Media, Education, or a related area are preferred, though not essential.
Compensation and working arrangement
This position begins as a flexible part-time contract of around 15 to 25 hours per week. The starting pay is $25 to $30 per hour, with strong bonus potential tied to results. The engagement begins with a 30 to 90 day trial period. If the arrangement works well, the role is intended to grow into a full-time ongoing position, with the possibility of leading a team in the future. The employer emphasises strong performance, fast growth, and increasing responsibility for the right person.
How to apply
Applicants are asked to email a short video of up to 90 seconds explaining why they are the best fit for the role and discussing a piece of content they consider excellent, along with why it works so well. Production quality is not the focus; the goal is to understand your thinking and enthusiasm. An optional link to content you have created, either personally or professionally, may also be included.
Additional information
This role is described as an all-in opportunity for someone who genuinely loves content, is proactive, and wants to help build a major tutoring brand. The team is looking for initiative, creativity, and someone who can contribute both strategically and on the ground.
