Job description
Role Overview
This is a permanent full-time Social Care Worker position based in Blackrock, County Dublin, within Oropesa Rehabilitation Services. The role is for 39 hours per week and sits under the Health and Social Care Professionals category at grade Social Care Worker 3029.
Organisation and Setting
The vacancy is within the HSE Dublin and South East health region and is advertised for St. John of God Community Services company limited by guarantee. The position is part of the HSE and is open to both HSE and non-HSE candidates. It is a Section 38 vacancy and open to all applicants.
Key Work Focus
The post holder will support people with enduring mental illness in a rehabilitation and social care setting. The work includes promoting person-centred supports, encouraging positive behaviour approaches, and helping service users build independent living skills and connect with the community.
What You Need to Bring
- A minimum Level 7 qualification in Applied Social Studies or Social Care.
- Strong knowledge of Health Act Regulations, the Mental Health Act, HIQA standards, and other relevant legislation.
- Practical experience supporting people with enduring mental illness.
- Experience in residential services is an advantage.
- Ability to work confidently in a team as well as on your own.
- Good communication, interpersonal, administrative, and coordination abilities.
- A flexible, innovative, and resourceful approach to work.
- Experience in human rights and advocacy.
- A full manual driving licence, which is essential and must be noted in the application.
- CORU registration, or evidence that registration has been applied for.
