Job Description
The City of Greater Sudbury is seeking a Sign Installer Helper to join their Roads Operations team within the Linear Infrastructure Services Division. This permanent, full-time position is based at the Frobisher Depot and reports to an Operations Foreperson. The role involves assisting with sign installations, traffic control, minor traffic signal maintenance, and overseeing the work of a Utilityperson. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining records related to sign installation and maintenance, adhering to the CGS Safety Manual and applicable provincial legislation.
Duties
- Aid in the installation of signs and related traffic control devices.
- Support minor traffic signal maintenance and installation tasks.
- Supervise the daily activities of a Utilityperson.
- Maintain accurate records for sign installation and upkeep.
- Ensure compliance with the CGS Safety Manual and relevant provincial laws.
- Undertake other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have successfully completed Secondary School (Grade XII) education and possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience.
Other Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to supervise a Utilityperson in sign and signal repair and maintenance.
- Proficiency in operating various small equipment used for sign and signal work.
- Capability to maintain essential job records and complete M.M.M.S. Crew Cards.
- Must obtain and maintain certification for safe operation of a crane or similar hoisting equipment.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Satisfactory health, attendance, and employment history.
- Must possess a valid Class “D” driver’s license, have an acceptable driving record, and be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, as a CGS vehicle may be required for business use.
Development Opportunity
This position is also posted as a development opportunity. A candidate who can meet the required qualifications within a reasonable timeframe may be considered. The pay rate for a development candidate will be $29.87 per hour until minimum qualifications are met.
