This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys working around vehicles and electronics, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and wants hands-on work that directly supports shop operations.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Shop Attendant will support daily upfitting and lot operations. The role includes helping technicians prepare vehicles, moving vehicles around the shop and lot, keeping work areas tidy, and assisting with vehicle intake and release. It also involves basic vehicle checks, inventory monitoring for shop and cleaning supplies, customer-facing support, and safe handling of materials and equipment.
Work Duties
- Help technicians get vehicles ready for service by placing them in bays and preparing them for pickup.
- Maintain a clean, orderly shop through sweeping, mopping, and proper storage of tools and equipment.
- Organize vehicles in the lot so parking and traffic flow remain efficient.
- Inspect vehicles by checking items such as tire pressure, fluid levels, and visible damage.
- Move vehicles inside the facility, to customer sites, or to assigned parking areas as needed.
- Keep the lot neat and report cleanliness or order issues to management.
- Track shop and cleaning supplies and request replenishment when stock runs low.
- Assist with receiving and releasing vehicles to help the service process run smoothly.
- Deliver professional customer service and ensure vehicles are handed over in excellent condition.
- Follow safety procedures, including correct disposal of hazardous materials.
- Take on other general shop and lot tasks as assigned.
Employment Terms
This is a full-time, onsite role. The employer states that it uses background checks and pre-employment drug screening where permitted by law. Safe Fleet also notes that it does not discriminate in hiring or employment on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, marital status, national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, ancestry, veteran status, or any other protected status under law.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation details were not specified in the source. The company says it offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical coverage, dental coverage, a 401(k), and bonuses.
Physical and Job Requirements
The role requires someone who can handle physical work, stay attentive in a busy environment, and contribute independently as well as collaboratively. Candidates should be prepared for frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The job also requires comfort working outdoors in changing weather conditions and operating both manual and automatic vehicles.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required. Experience in an automotive environment or a similar position is considered an advantage. Candidates should also have a basic understanding of vehicle maintenance.
