Shipping Operations Officer

Role overview

We are hiring a Shipping Operations Officer to support international freight activities and keep shipment workflows moving smoothly. This position works closely with clients, the sales team, and overseas agents, while handling both sea and air freight services.

What you will do

• Manage international shipping tasks across inbound and outbound movements.
• Collect pricing enquiries and log shipment information such as request date, client name, loading port, destination, quotation details, and client responses.
• Build quotations for direct customers, sales colleagues, and international agents, then compare the available options before confirming the final price.
• Arrange sea and air bookings and coordinate loading based on shipment type and customer requirements.
• Track export shipments from booking through sailing, including transporter coordination, VGM submission, shipping instruction preparation, and review of draft bills of lading.
• Monitor import shipments with shipping lines or origin agents and follow documents through to arrival and completion of the required steps.
• Prepare shipping documentation such as shipping declarations, VGM, and shipping instructions.
• Review invoices and operational paperwork, and share daily progress updates with the line manager.
• Work with customs brokers until the operational and financial shipment file is fully closed.

What we are looking for

• Hands-on experience in international freight operations, with exposure to both import and export procedures preferred.
• Working knowledge of shipping lines, overseas agents, and customs brokers.
• Strong accuracy, fast turnaround on requests, and the ability to resolve day-to-day operational issues effectively.

Additional information

This role focuses on managing shipping operations end to end, including quotation handling, bookings, shipment follow-up, document control, and final file closure.
