Role overview

This permanent Senior UX Designer position is based in Sydney and calls for an experienced design professional with 8 to 12 years of experience. The role sits within the design team and focuses on shaping high-quality user experiences for a range of client projects. It is suited to someone who can partner with clients, guide UX direction, and help strengthen the skills of junior designers.

What you will do

  • Work directly with clients to clarify business goals and user experience needs.
  • Develop trusted client relationships through clear explanation of design thinking and UX strategy.
  • Help create a collaborative, innovative team environment that supports project delivery.
  • Lead or supervise user research efforts to better understand target users.
  • Turn client and user insights into practical design recommendations and UX plans.
  • Drive the development of interaction concepts and prototypes aligned to project needs.
  • Prepare site maps, user journeys, and wireframes to support the design process.
  • Organize and run usability testing, while involving clients in the review and feedback cycle.
  • Keep clients updated on design decisions and overall project status.
  • Stay current on UX trends, tools, and emerging technologies.
  • Help clients understand the value of UX and how it influences business outcomes.
  • Guide and mentor UX designers so the team works toward a shared design vision.

Required skills and experience

  • Strong practical knowledge of UX design and UX strategy.
  • Confident communication skills with proven client-facing experience.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates successful UX work and real project outcomes.
  • Hands-on ability with design and collaboration tools such as Figma and Miro.
  • Background in a service-led organization working across multiple industry sectors.
  • Exposure to industries such as telecom, e-commerce, enterprise software, and FMCG is an advantage.
  • Comfort using AI tools, including ChatGPT, is preferred.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as HCI, Design, or Business is preferred, although equivalent practical experience will also be considered.
