Senior Resource Geologist

About the Role

Westgold Resources is working to build the next chapter of gold mining in Western Australia, and this position is an opportunity to contribute to that ambition. In this senior geology role, you will help guide resource strategy across a diverse, multi-asset gold portfolio while remaining based at the Perth head office and visiting operations from time to time.

Reporting to the Principal Resource Geologist, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering resource modelling, estimation and reporting activities across the company’s operations. The role suits someone who is technically strong, commercially aware and comfortable working with both site-based and corporate stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate resource modelling and estimation work across several assets.
• Prepare accurate and timely Mineral Resource Statements and JORC 2012-compliant reporting.
• Contribute geological expertise to Life of Mine planning and broader development strategies.
• Help strengthen geological modelling and estimation practices across the organisation.
• Spot opportunities for resource growth through drilling programs and related work.
• Work with site and corporate teams to explain technical risks and opportunities.
• Support initiatives aimed at improving performance and reducing costs.
• Guide and mentor technical geology staff across teams.

About You

You are a resource geologist who brings strong technical capability, sound commercial judgement and an ability to work across multiple operations. You are confident engaging with operational teams, enjoy improving systems and processes, and can influence outcomes through clear communication and practical thinking.

Requirements

• Proven background in resource estimation and geological modelling.
• Advanced practical experience with Leapfrog and Surpac.
• Good understanding of the complete mining cycle.
• Strong communication skills for dealing with operational and corporate stakeholders.
• A proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement.
• A tertiary qualification in geology, mining or a related discipline.
• Approximately 7+ years of experience in mining, preferably in gold operations.
• Experience in a technical or leadership-oriented position.
• Membership with AIG or AusIMM.
• Working knowledge of WA mining legislation and WHS requirements.
• Ability to meet pre-employment checks, including medical, drug and alcohol screening, right-to-work verification, an Australian national police clearance and an Australian driver’s licence, or the ability to obtain one.
