Role overview
This is a remote opportunity in the United States for a Senior Purchasing and Procurement Planner. The role centers on managing end-to-end purchasing for direct materials, protecting supply continuity, improving cost efficiency, and strengthening supplier performance across important categories.
You will connect purchasing plans with production requirements, forecasted demand, and cost objectives. In this position, you will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to keep materials moving on time while maintaining clean and accurate data in ERP systems. The job calls for strong analytical thinking, precision, and the ability to handle complex supplier partnerships in a busy supply chain setting.
This is a cross-functional role with direct influence on operational performance, cost management, and customer delivery results.
Core responsibilities
- Oversee purchasing activity for direct materials within assigned categories, making sure orders match production timing and supply chain needs.
- Create and apply procurement approaches that support target costs, supplier performance expectations, and uninterrupted material supply.
- Raise, revise, and track purchase orders in SAP or other ERP tools, including expediting, changes, and return handling when required.
- Keep procurement records accurate, including pricing, lead times, ETAs, freight, and tariff details in SAP and connected systems.
- Act as the main contact for supplier relationships, including communication, performance tracking, and issue resolution.
- Work with Accounts Payable, vendors, and internal teams to clear invoice mismatches and pricing concerns.
- Coordinate with supply chain partners to align buying activity with demand forecasts and supplier lead times.
- Monitor inbound shipments and help maintain ATP accuracy so teams have reliable visibility into supply.
- Review procurement data, vendor scorecards, and KPI trends to identify performance gaps and improvement opportunities.
- Support audits, cost checks, and compliance alignment by partnering with finance and compliance teams.
- Follow vendor performance and suggest corrective actions, savings ideas, and process improvements.
- Join operational meetings to share procurement updates and support urgent production and installation requirements.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related area is preferred.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics, or supply chain planning.
- Practical experience using SAP or a comparable ERP purchasing platform.
- Strong command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Good understanding of procurement workflows, supplier management, and inventory or material planning.
- Background in handling supplier issues related to price, delivery, or contract terms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with careful attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate across finance, supply chain, operations, and external supplier teams.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
- Comfort working under pressure and prioritizing competing deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience reviewing procurement KPIs, vendor performance measures, and cost-saving opportunities.
Benefits and compensation
- Annual compensation between $75,000 and $81,000, depending on experience.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- Life insurance and disability coverage.
- 401(k) retirement savings plan.
- Paid time off and paid holidays.
- Fully remote working arrangement.
- Exposure to global, cross-functional supply chain operations.
- Opportunity to work with large-scale procurement processes and strategic supplier management.
- Professional growth within a leading multinational organization.
