Job description

About Rocket Lab

Rocket Lab is an integrated space company that provides launch services, spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, and satellite components, with the aim of expanding access to space. Its rockets and satellites support major missions around the world, including scientific research, Earth observation, climate-focused work, national security, and advanced technology demonstrations.

The Electron rocket has become the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket each year and has placed more than 230 satellites into orbit. At the same time, the company is developing Neutron, a reusable medium-lift launch vehicle designed for larger constellation deployments. Rocket Lab’s Space Systems division creates satellites, payloads, and components, including spacecraft chosen for NASA missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as parts used in the James Webb Space Telescope.

About the Supply Chain Team

The Supply Chain function manages the movement of materials, products, and components across the business. Because many of Rocket Lab’s products are critical to both internal and customer missions, this team has a direct effect on rocket and satellite program success. The team prepares assembly kits for technicians, oversees inventory, handles shipping and receiving, manages direct and indirect purchasing, and checks that materials and products meet required standards.

Role Overview

This is a practical, onsite role based at Rocket Lab’s Auckland facility in New Zealand. The Senior Production Coordinator ensures production has the materials it needs, tracks open work orders, accelerates deliveries when required, and helps remove issues that could delay on-time completion. The role also supports production planners by helping material flow through the global production system. High-performing candidates may have the chance to move into production planning roles in the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Issue shop-floor materials to production work orders on schedule.
  • Make routine rounds across assigned departments to handle material movements and kanban cycles.
  • Maintain correct lineside inventory, perform cycle counts, and keep work areas orderly.
  • Track order lines from inventory and raise concerns when delivery timelines are at risk.
  • Monitor perishable lineside materials and consumables, escalating when shortages could interrupt production.
  • Identify and resolve material-related obstacles that stop production orders from being completed.
  • Help prioritize and rush subassemblies for vehicle integration, including following items through receipt, quality control, and inventory for urgent needs.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams and contribute to shared company goals.
  • Provide support to other supply chain teams and departments as needed.
  • Take on additional duties assigned by management that relate to the role.

Required Qualifications

  • High school qualification plus at least 4 years of relevant production experience in a fast-moving manufacturing setting.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, manage assigned tasks, and give status updates effectively.
  • Comfort working in a team, managing multiple priorities, and meeting several deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong planning and organization skills, with the ability to prioritize work efficiently.
  • Must be able to operate, or learn to operate, a forklift and other equipment as required.

Nice-to-Have

  • Certificate or diploma in manufacturing, business, or supply chain disciplines.

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods while using a computer, keyboard, and office equipment.
  • Clear vision for reading documents, working on screens, and identifying details at different distances.
  • Professional verbal and written communication with colleagues, managers, and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to move between buildings, attend meetings, and access different work areas.
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing settings with moderate noise, dust, and fumes.

What To Expect

Rocket Lab operates in a challenging environment where success depends on dedication, teamwork, resilience, innovation, and a willingness to tackle difficult problems. The culture values practical problem-solving, mutual support, humility, and a hands-on approach. The team works under pressure, to tight timelines, and focuses on delivering results.
