Job description
About the Role
Campspot is hiring a Senior Product Manager to lead the Property Management System (PMS), the B2B platform used by campground owners, operators, and staff to manage day-to-day business operations. This system supports reservation handling, site inventory, reporting, partner integrations, and the internal workflows that keep park operations running smoothly.
The role calls for strong product ownership, sound judgment, and the ability to spot meaningful problems early. You’ll need to stay close to customers, understand the details that matter in real operating environments, and turn operator needs into clear product direction. The team is also looking for someone who already uses AI thoughtfully as part of their workflow and is comfortable working across the shifting boundaries between product, design, and engineering.
Product Strategy & Vision
- Shape and own a clear vision for the PMS, along with a multi-quarter roadmap that supports company goals and the needs of campground operators.
- Look ahead to emerging issues and opportunities rather than waiting for them to become urgent problems.
- Bring together operator feedback, market trends, and internal data to form a strong point of view on what should be built and why.
Deep Operator Understanding
- Build real expertise in campground operations, including seasonal patterns, staffing models, revenue drivers, compliance needs, and the realities of park management.
- Create direct relationships with operators, including both enthusiastic users and skeptical ones.
- Surface workflow inefficiencies and friction points that operators may not clearly articulate themselves.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with engineering, design, sales, customer success, and support to define scope and deliver high-quality releases.
- Translate business needs into technical requirements, and technical constraints back into business language, without losing important context.
- Function well in a setting where product, design, and engineering responsibilities overlap, and where ambiguity and shared ownership are common.
Integrations & Platform Ecosystem
- Own the health and development of integrations with payment processors, channel managers, OTAs, and other tools used by campground businesses.
- Treat the PMS as a platform and make thoughtful decisions about when to build internally, partner externally, or support third-party extensibility.
Data-Driven Decision Making
- Define and monitor KPIs tied to operator outcomes, such as adoption, feature usage, reservation throughput, time spent on tasks, and retention.
- Use data with integrity by presenting the complete picture, even when it challenges the original hypothesis.
- Know when analytics are enough and when customer research is the stronger signal, then use both appropriately.
AI-Augmented Product Development
- Use AI tools actively in daily product work for research, synthesis, specification writing, and iteration.
- Find practical ways to apply AI in the PMS to reduce operator effort or create new value without adding unnecessary complexity.
- Help shape how the company thinks about building modern B2B software in a rapidly changing tool environment.
Agile Leadership & Backlog Management
- Run sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives with clear purpose.
- Maintain a well-prioritized backlog grounded in customer needs, technical realities, and strategic priorities.
- Share progress, blockers, and decisions with stakeholders in a proactive and transparent way.
Qualifications
Required
- At least 5 years of product management experience, with substantial exposure to B2B SaaS, property management software, hospitality technology, or a similar environment where businesses are the primary users.
- A proven history of taking ownership proactively and solving problems before being asked to do so.
- Strong analytical ability and a reputation for being intellectually honest with data.
- Excellent writing skills, including the ability to produce crisp problem statements, concise specifications, and clear strategic recommendations.
- A collaborative style and the ability to influence without formal authority across engineering, design, and go-to-market teams.
Preferred
- Experience with PMS platforms, reservation systems, or operational software in hospitality or outdoor recreation.
- Familiarity with integration-heavy products, including APIs, webhooks, partner ecosystems, and the realities of building on third-party platforms.
- Regular use of AI tools as part of normal product work, with workflow changes beyond simple experimentation.
- Comfort in environments where product, design, and engineering boundaries are less defined, and enthusiasm for that style of work.
Compensation & Benefits
- Expected starting salary range: $120,000 to $160,000 annually.
- Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance options are available at competitive rates.
- 401(k) plan with employer match.
- Flexible, casual work environment.
- Employee camping credit to encourage using the product and spending time outdoors.
Location
This is an onsite role in the United States, with priority given to candidates in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Denver, Colorado; and Chicago, Illinois who are open to regular in-person collaboration. Secondary consideration may be given to candidates located in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, and Canada. Applicants outside these locations cannot be considered at this time.
