About the Role
The Senior Planner - Commissioning will be responsible for creating project programmes for assigned work and keeping them updated through regular progress tracking and change control. This includes incorporating variations, delays, and any changes to logic or durations as required.
The role supports the wider project team by helping measure performance, identify potential risks, and ensure that contract requirements are followed, particularly in relation to change management. The position is expected to be handled independently in line with company procedures, and also includes responsibility for guiding and developing junior planning colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop project schedules across tender, PCSA, contract, execution, design, and commissioning stages using planning software.
- Take part in internal weekly project meetings.
- Collect accurate weekly progress information, including start and finish dates.
- Track and incorporate delays within the programme.
- Track and incorporate variations within the programme.
- Support senior management with accurate reporting and timely escalation of project risks.
- Contribute to departmental objectives by participating in strategic initiatives.
- Mentor Planners and Junior Planners.
- Attend client programme meetings and workshops.
- Work with subcontractors to capture their schedules and progress in the master programme.
- Join internal planning workshops and training sessions.
- Visit project sites as needed, with a minimum of one site visit every four weeks for each project.
- Report project and programme status to the Lead Planner and Planning Manager, including regular updates.
- Correct programme errors as directed by the Lead Planner and Planning Manager.
- Attend weekly planning department meetings.
- Support initiatives that build planning team capability, including training graduate planners.
- Keep records and files well organised in both the P6 database and ACC.
- Prepare and share regular internal and external reports, such as progress updates, EHRA, 4-week lookaheads, critical path reports, and any other required outputs.
- Follow all planning department standards and procedures.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with Primavera P6, along with a willingness to continue strengthening expertise in the tool.
- Strong understanding of the projects in the portfolio, including scope, construction methods, and project risks.
- Detailed knowledge of project programmes, especially critical path activities and their relationships.
- Working knowledge of forensic delay analysis and delay modelling in P6.

The role reports to the Regional Lead Planner.
