Job description
Overview
This is a strong opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to step into a senior position within a fast-growing international business during a major phase of expansion. The role carries real ownership over payroll activity across several countries, with scope to improve processes and help shape the future direction of payroll operations.
The position is suited to someone who wants a visible, high-impact role where they can influence change, strengthen controls, streamline delivery, and contribute to the organisation’s long-term growth.
Role Summary
As the payroll specialist subject matter expert, you will be responsible for the accurate and compliant delivery of payroll across multiple jurisdictions. The role focuses on efficiency, governance, service quality, and creating a positive experience for employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for payroll operations across more than one country.
- Oversee third-party payroll providers and monitor service performance.
- Ensure payroll activity aligns with relevant laws, regulations, and internal compliance standards.
- Identify and implement improvements that increase efficiency, automation, and overall process quality.
- Support payroll work linked to international growth and new-country expansion.
- Work closely with HR, Finance, and other key partners to resolve payroll matters effectively.
- Build strong controls, reporting structures, and audit-ready processes.
- Handle complex payroll issues, questions, and escalations through to resolution.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring substantial payroll experience, ideally across multiple entities or jurisdictions, along with a solid understanding of payroll compliance, legislation, and control frameworks.
Experience with BrightPay, Megapay, or comparable payroll platforms is preferred. Strong Excel capability and analytical thinking are important, as is the ability to communicate well and manage relationships with a range of stakeholders.
You should be comfortable balancing competing priorities and deadlines. Experience with payroll transformation, implementation, or continuous improvement projects would be a strong advantage.
Additional Information
This role is based in the Cork Metropolitan Area and is structured as an onsite full-time position.
