Job description

Job Purpose

In this role, you will run, observe, and regulate the assigned plant units so products are processed, stored, and exported to the required specifications. The position focuses on meeting company and HSE standards while improving plant yield and ensuring control panels are used effectively for safe operation and product quality.

Operational Duties

  • Perform allocated operating tasks safely and in line with standard operating procedures and required standards.
  • Record operating incidents and review them with the supervisor to support smooth unit performance.
  • Carry out or supervise routine equipment inspections to identify abnormalities and arrange servicing or repairs when needed.
  • Prepare and review plant and equipment for maintenance so systems work correctly and remain synchronized with other plant assets.
  • Operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently according to company instructions and standards.
  • Act as Auxiliary Fireman or Site Safety Officer during emergencies when required, following the Facility Response Plan.
  • Authorize permits to work, track active jobs, and oversee contractor activity to ensure compliance with safety rules and procedures.
  • Use the full capability of the Integrated Control System to improve efficiency, product quality, and safety.
  • Adjust speeds, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates during start-up, shutdown, and emergency situations as needed to keep operations under control.
  • Watch control panels, diagnose unusual conditions, make operational corrections, and continuously monitor plant conditions.
  • Take readings from essential instruments to confirm equipment remains within defined parameters and limits.
  • Verify that chemicals used in the area are of the correct type, prepare solutions, adjust dosing rates, and follow all HSE procedures and rules.

Safety and Integrity

  • Operate the assigned area safely and efficiently to achieve target plant yield without hydrocarbon loss and within emission limits, while ensuring proper shift handover.
  • Complete integrity testing, changeover routines, and other scheduled verification tasks on time and keep accurate records and documentation.
  • Contain operational upsets and stop minor issues from becoming emergencies through clear communication and coordination with other departments, company sites, and neighboring plants.

Policies, Training, and Improvement

  • Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures to meet operational goals.
  • Deliver on-the-job training as part of competency-based training programs supporting UAE nationalization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve operating procedures and functional processes.

HSE, Housekeeping, and Reporting

  • Comply with HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable laws, and sustainability guidelines aligned with international standards, best practices, and the ADNOC Code of Practices.
  • Take part in emergency response activities as a team member.
  • Keep the work area clean and orderly before and during operations in line with hygiene and housekeeping standards.
  • Support the preparation of section progress reports for management.
  • Prepare KPI checklists for management use.

Working Relationships

This position involves regular contact with the line manager, peers, and other employees across the company or group. It also requires interaction with external consultants, third-party service providers, and government agencies as needed.

Qualification and Experience

A technical diploma in a relevant field is preferred, or a secondary school certificate paired with a vocational trade certificate in the relevant field. The role requires 6 years of experience in plant operations within a large industrial plant in the oil and gas sector. Professional certifications are applicable as needed.

Working Conditions

The role involves minimal physical effort. Work is primarily in an air-conditioned environment, though occasional site visits may expose the employee to heat, humidity, and dust.
