Role Overview
An industrial manufacturing client is hiring a hands-on Senior Manager, Supply Chain to oversee and refine end-to-end supply chain activity in a fast-moving plant environment. The position leads a team of 4 to 5 people and is focused on execution across production planning, purchasing, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
This is a player-coach role for someone who enjoys being close to the work, solving problems on the floor, and strengthening performance across the entire supply chain lifecycle.
Core Responsibilities
- Direct day-to-day supply chain activity spanning production, procurement, inventory, planning, and warehouse/shipping and receiving functions.
- Make sure materials are available to support manufacturing schedules and customer delivery commitments.
- Work closely with production teams to align capacity, scheduling, and material movement.
- Track and improve inventory accuracy, inventory turns, and working capital efficiency.
- Own purchasing activities, including supplier evaluation, negotiation, and ongoing performance management.
- Build strong supplier relationships to meet cost, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Spot and pursue cost reduction opportunities through sourcing strategy and process improvement.
- Lead production planning and scheduling so demand forecasts match operational limits and output plans.
- Strengthen S&OP and production control processes to improve visibility and efficiency.
- Coordinate regularly with operations, engineering, and finance stakeholders.
- Oversee warehouse operations such as receiving, storage, material handling, and shipping.
- Improve inbound and outbound logistics performance and ensure shipments go out on time.
- Enhance material flow, warehouse layout, and related process design.
- Manage, coach, and develop a team of 4 to 5 supply chain professionals.
- Stay actively involved in daily execution and problem-solving as a hands-on leader.
- Promote accountability, coaching, and a high-performance team culture.
- Identify and implement improvements across procurement, production, and logistics.
- Support lean manufacturing and operational excellence efforts.
- Monitor and report KPIs tied to service, cost, and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 5 years of people-management experience in supply chain or operations leadership.
- Background working in an industrial manufacturing setting.
- Practical knowledge of production operations, purchasing, inventory management, production planning and control, and warehouse/logistics processes.
- Ability to lead from both a strategic and tactical perspective.
- Experience using ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, or JD Edwards.
- Strong problem-solving ability and a continuous-improvement mindset; Lean or Six Sigma exposure is preferred.
Preferred Background
- Experience in industrial or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Prior ownership of plant-level, end-to-end supply chain operations.
- Exposure to S&OP and demand planning workflows.
