Job description

About the role

Scotiabank is hiring a Senior Manager, Enterprise Strategy in Toronto, Ontario, to join a high-performing strategy group focused on delivering enterprise-wide and business-line strategy across Canada’s leading international bank. The team partners closely with senior leadership, business line heads, and other stakeholders to provide research-based advice, sharp analysis, and practical recommendations that address complex business challenges.

This role is suited to a collaborative, analytical professional who enjoys solving business problems and influencing outcomes at a senior level. You will contribute to major strategic initiatives, support planning across the bank, and help shape decisions through clear thinking, rigorous analysis, and effective stakeholder management.

Key responsibilities

The role is split between strategic project work and broader strategy planning responsibilities. Most of the time will be spent on project-based strategy support, with the remainder focused on enterprise and business-line planning.

  • Lead tailored strategy work and advisory support for enterprise and business-line priorities, using research, analysis, and structured recommendations to solve business issues.
  • Provide either hands-on strategy execution support for specific areas or lighter advisory support through steering committees and targeted workstreams.
  • Build project plans and track delivery to ensure timelines and outputs are met.
  • Collect data, analyze financial information, and diagnose issues using quantitative assessment.
  • Develop financial models to evaluate future costs and benefits.
  • Coordinate multiple workstreams and facilitate problem-solving sessions, workshops, interviews, and discussions with cross-functional teams and subject matter experts.
  • Summarize insights and communicate clear recommendations and implementation approaches.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to help achieve project goals.
  • Support the ongoing execution of strategy planning across enterprise and business-line levels.
  • Conduct strategic and business analysis to identify key issues and propose actions for the bank’s strategy.
  • Help communicate the bank’s strategic priorities and broader strategic direction.
  • Perform market, industry, and competitor research to identify trends, assess implications, and benchmark performance.
  • Support planning and coordination for strategy offsites involving senior management and the Board of Directors.

What you need

  • An undergraduate degree in business or engineering; a graduate business degree is also expected.
  • At least 2 years of post-MBA experience or 5+ years of post-undergraduate experience in consulting, corporate strategy/development, or investment banking.
  • Prior exposure to financial services is preferred, though not mandatory.
  • Strong ability to perform in a demanding, fast-moving, and complex environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal influence and leadership abilities.
  • Strong planning and analytical thinking, with the ability to identify the most important business issues from large sets of information.
  • Well-developed relationship management skills for working across the bank, with partners, and with external vendors.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • A proven history of delivering innovative ideas through to implementation and change management.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
