Role overview

The Finance and Records Department is hiring an experienced Senior Local Unit Analyst to deliver specialist support in finance and record management for local units across the Pacific Area. This is a permanent, full-time position located at the Pacific Area Office and reporting to the Area Local Unit Manager. The role acts as a dependable advisor and subject-matter expert, helping ensure that sacred funds and records are handled accurately, professionally, and in accordance with Church standards, policies, and guiding principles.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced guidance and training to local unit leaders, analysts, and clerks on finance and membership record processes.
  • Make sure local units follow Church rules and procedures related to finance and record keeping.
  • Assist with finance and membership audits, including helping drive resolution where issues are identified.
  • Create statistical, trend-based, and analytical reports that support better decision-making.
  • Help the Area Presidency and local leaders complete unit organization applications.
  • Support the improvement of internal controls and ongoing process enhancements.
  • Resolve issues with Church applications and systems used by local units.
  • Provide assistance to regional and local unit offices whenever needed.
  • Take part in complex projects that affect local unit operations across the Area.
  • Manage and control large operational databases.
  • Assist in locating members whose whereabouts are unknown.

Qualifications and requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
  • A higher qualification or professional credential is expected, such as CPA, CMA, MBA, or an equivalent specialization.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in business, accounting, finance, or a related area is needed.
  • Deep knowledge of Church financial procedures, local unit record-keeping practices, and related tools is essential.
  • A solid understanding of Church governance, doctrine, and Handbook requirements, usually developed through ecclesiastical leadership experience, is required.
  • Proven ability to analyse complex information, produce reports, and present findings to senior leaders is necessary.
  • Strong spoken and written English communication skills are required.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to train, influence, and support both leaders and colleagues are important.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Church systems and standard business software, are required.
  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate integrity, good judgement, and a strong commitment to protecting sacred funds.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
  • A police background check may be required.
