Job description

About the opportunity

This position sits within a long-established, high-impact programme for a respected New Zealand technology consultancy. The work is senior in nature and offers real influence over technical decisions, architecture, and the overall quality of delivery.

You will contribute both as a hands-on engineer and as a technical leader, collaborating closely with stakeholders to shape scalable, maintainable solutions. The environment is centred on backend development with .NET/C# and modern frontend technologies such as React or Angular.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design and delivery of robust digital solutions across the full stack.
  • Influence technical direction and help make architecture decisions that support long-term maintainability.
  • Work directly with stakeholders to translate complex ideas into practical engineering outcomes.
  • Lead and support other developers through mentoring and technical guidance.
  • Build and maintain web APIs and services using Microsoft and Azure-based technologies.
  • Support continuous integration and deployment practices, including automated build and test workflows.
  • Use modern development tools and AI-assisted coding tools where appropriate to improve delivery efficiency.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of commercial experience working with Microsoft technologies, including .NET/.NET Core, C#, and MS SQL.
  • Strong experience across full-stack web development, including Angular 10 or above, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
  • Practical experience developing APIs and services with ASP.NET, Azure Functions, API Management, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Prior customer-facing exposure, such as presales discussions or client delivery work.
  • Demonstrated background in leading, coaching, or mentoring developers or technical teams.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions, including build and test automation.
  • Hands-on experience delivering solutions on Azure and comfort using AI-assisted development tools like Copilot or Claude.

What’s on offer

  • Annual salary of NZD 150,000.
  • Flexible hybrid working with a minimum of two days in the office.
  • Fully subsidised medical insurance, with discounted cover available for immediate family members.
  • Access to ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
  • Enhanced parental leave and wellbeing support initiatives.

Eligibility

Applicants must be a New Zealand citizen or resident, or already hold the legal right to work in New Zealand with a valid visa.
