Job description

About Partners Life

Partners Life is among New Zealand’s leading life and health insurers. As a member of the Dai-ichi Life Group, a major global insurance organisation, the business is focused on shaping a new stage of growth and opportunity. The company aims to raise standards in the sector, challenge conventional approaches, and create meaningful value through innovation and tailored advice.

This is a chance to join an organisation that is helping redefine the insurance market while being supported by the strength of an international group.

About the Opportunity

The organisation is looking for a Senior Executive Assistant to deliver high-quality, proactive administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer as part of the Executive Leadership Team.

In this role, you will report to the CEO and also help lead a busy executive support function. Your work will be central to helping senior leaders work efficiently through careful diary coordination, meeting and event planning, document preparation, and professional stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a dependable first point of contact for the CEO and CFO, anticipating needs and keeping priorities on track.
  • Guide and assist a small team of Executive Assistants.
  • Provide full-scope executive support, including complex calendar management, scheduling, and travel coordination.
  • Prepare, refine, and proofread emails, reports, and presentations.
  • Coordinate executive, board, and committee meetings by preparing agendas, minutes, presentations, and supporting papers.
  • Assist with off-site meetings and events.
  • Handle expenses, invoices, and related administrative workflows.
  • Act as a polished communication link between executives and internal and external stakeholders, including overseas group partners.
  • Support projects and initiatives by monitoring timelines and deliverables.

What They Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is an experienced Senior Executive Assistant who works with ownership, uses initiative, and enjoys solving problems that help senior leaders perform at their best.

You should be highly proactive, organised, curious, and accountable, with a flexible can-do attitude. The role calls for someone who can work confidently with different personalities, communicate clearly at senior levels, contribute ideas, and respectfully push back when needed. You should also remain composed under pressure while managing several priorities in a fast-moving environment.

Additional Experience and Attributes

  • At least 5 years of experience supporting senior executives, preferably in a fast-paced global corporate or professional services setting.
  • Prior leadership exposure is useful but not essential.
  • Background as an Executive Assistant in financial services or another regulated sector is preferred.
  • Strong capability with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Copilot, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence in senior-level interactions.
  • Strong organisation, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with discretion and sound judgment.
  • A proactive approach, including confidence to challenge constructively and support senior leaders toward strong outcomes.
  • Resilient and adaptable, with comfort working through ambiguity and change in a fast-paced setting.

What’s Offered

Partners Life invests in its people and supports growth, wellbeing, and long-term success. Benefits include:

  • Structured training and continuous support.
  • Real opportunities for career development and advancement.
  • Eligibility for a discretionary bonus after 12 months of service.
  • Company-paid life insurance and income protection, plus discounted medical insurance for permanent employees.
  • Birthday leave and long-service leave.
  • Maternity leave salary top-up, reduced-hours options, and secondary parental leave.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • A modern workplace in Takapuna with impressive views.

Eligibility

Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
